I have some complains bout "the storm". 1. the german defences are like an offense to any german: the germans used to dig out anti tank trenches, which are totaly missing, i know its winter, but they (ab)used lokal people as workers, so they didnt care. another thing is that the left flank has not any defence, which is totally stupid and unrealistic since the germans fought longer that anyother nation in ww2, and they knew how to set up defencive positions. Also they would have blown up the ice on the river or atleast had it mined. 2. the 88 should all disapear when the russians take any flag, cause its just so unrealistic that one of these russians overuns a flag with the snowglider and takes the 88 and kills everytank around; this all happend in 15 seconds! I think the russians should NOT be able to use them, cause they werent trained to use the 88 and it was really hard to use them even for the germans. The russians could maybe use them if they conquer oe and have a few days delay to get used to it, but never in a way like the storm within 15 seconds.
yes, THE STORM is a though one for the germans, but i guess it should be like that in a winter 44 map. anyway, it is not impossible for germans to win.
The Storm can be improved yes, it needs better trenches, it needs to have the river blocked (all it is now is a highway for ppsh troopers), the airfield needs better cover (move base infront and airfield to rear of map). one more 88 at the airfield.
give russians arty and germans better defences on the flanks.
The general idea of this map is great, a strong defensive line around a city that the Germans have to defend, if the line is broken then the game turns into a close quarters city battle. The defenses are pretty strong as it stands now but I think the Germans should get a few more stationary guns, one by the airfield and another that can cover the river. To make up for this the russians would get a battery of 4 105's and some katyusha's to soften up the German defenses, something that you could lob shells over the hills with and stay out of range of the Greman defenses. A few more MG 42's in the city would be nice too, or at least the ones that are currently there could be given a better field of fire. The MG in the chruch tower is in a good position but you can only fire at targets that are way up by the AT guns (can aim low enough to hit targets anywhere in the city area), at this range you cant tell what is firendly and what is not.

Yeah.. 105's at such short range would be overkill. The russians should be able to soften the defences, not anihaliate them.
An ME-109 would be nice too for the Germans.
The Russians don't need artillery batteries for this map they already get 2 or is it 3 IL-2's. Those planes can definately soften up those 88's. Even though I know Russians were famous for using artillery barrages it would just be a bit much balance wise. Often so many ppl are in a mad rush to man the 88's along the front line that often no one initially grabs the PzKw IV at the rear base and the 88 set farther back near the demolished bridge goes unmanned until the last minute and at that point the snowmobile's are already almost on top of you. Probably the most frustrating part is the airfield as I've actually never seen the german planes up in the sky fighting with the IL-2's or pounding the ground. This map is definately a great idea and still I love playing it but it's apparent that some parts of the current concept either aren't working like imagined or at all for that matter. I would not want to see this map go but agree it could use a little tweaking.
The map is almost there as far as finished, but agreed it does need some tweaking. This is one of those maps where if the germans dont let the allied get a flag, they can win. However once the russains secure a spawn point, expect the limitless ppsher's to come run and gun the city. This is where germans have a problem. Once russains have ppshes in the city and tanks blasting, there isnt much the germans can do. The tanks inside do help, but there just isnt enough of them when you compare the 3 il2s, 9 tanks, and the rest of the players probably toting ppsh. But at the same point you cant just increase the german armor. Solutions: Cut russian il2's down to 1. Or drop the Stuka and give the Germans a Fw. I would say a 109 but given the way the FW handles i think that would make a little more interesting matchup. Keep the FW clean, no bomb. Also give the Russians some Flak at their main, to help with vultures. Cut Russin tank #'s. The trend in FH has been add more tanks, add more tanks. Well its getting to a point that on some maps we do have way to many. I think this map is one. The germans already have many defensive positions, they dont also need 3 tanks. The panther just seems out of place. Cut Germans tanks down to 2. Make them both Stugg's. These are more defensive tanks which go with the defensive theme. Cutting the Panther means you can cut the russian armor down too. Not every battle was Kursk. Infintry is a tuffy. Russians need some sort of anti-armor. Give them the gernade kit from Karakov. This is equipped with a rifle. Distances in this map can make for interesting long range battles, but get ruined by snowmobiling ppshes and trucking ppshes. Cut Smg choices from 2 to 1 on each side. Drop the Close Quarters class and add Scout class (phillipeenes version). German Russain Scout Scout Assualt Assualt Anti-tank (30m) Anti-tank (gernades) Satchels (with Rifle) Satchels (with rifle) Tank Commander Tank commander Less run and gun in city. Notice most classes dont even have gernades. Gives a reason to pick assualt over the rest. Still a Smg choice, but limited. Many mg's are already placed staticly over maps that never get used. This allows them to be used. Adding some ppsh pick ups and Mg pick ups with still have the presence.
