tvihProduction numbers... so, where's the damn StuH 42 for infantry support? ;) Much more made than Brummbärs and such. I want one! Not like it'd be hard to do, eh? :)

I found the number 1 299 made, so sure. Well thanks Mkh, just something I found with google and finally edited out the "D-Fens Records" part:p

FH units should be added by the fact that in a battle they were historically there, and so should be in a map representing that battle for it to be accurate......not by production numbers.

A Sturmtiger on it's own was an easy target, not much a threat to allied tanks wich could easily outflank it while it reloaded another round that could take 10 minutes.....if the crew was fast. So it wasn't used that way.

Sturmtigers were mainly deployed as short range artillery in companies of four Sturmtigers, not confronting the enemy directly but at short distance behind the front troops. Four of these 380 mm grenade launching beasts deployed as part of a defensive army could stop an allied offensive all on their own.......wich they actually did on many occasions when the allies made their final push toward Berlin, mostly in battles inside Germany itself........untill, as most do know, they eventually ran out of their highly specialized 380 mm ammo.

The battles inside Germany are not known widely, and neither is the fact Sturmtigers were much feared amongst allied troops because of their savage "stopping" power that could stop even a massive offensive in place........not for nothing allied soldiers liked their picture taken sitting on an abandoned Sturmtiger......

I am sure FH players would be devided about a land vehicle that has about the explosive power of the FH 0.6 Stuka bomb, or a single battleship cannon. But it is a historical fact, Sturmtigers were there, taking huge toll of advancing allied troops pushing toward Berlin in the final stage of the war. The fact that only 18 or so existed, was offset by the fact they did not fight as front line units and were practically not lost in battle......and so survived many battles and were used again and again.

A typical map in wich you would encounter Sturmtigers is not the fantasy Alpenfestung, but maps in germany fighting for vital bridges, towns, villages countryside and cities, the german defenders kept putting up a fierce resistance at set locations and there were bloody battles for these objectives all the way to Berlin, wich is often forgotten....... Sturmtigers were also there in the Ardennes offensive, during the battle of the Bulge. Sturmtiger is not fantasy or experimental.......it was a regular fighting unit, and it has seen a lot of combat action.......that it is not so well known as a regular fighting vehicle is only because it was most active in "Forgotten" battles inside Germany, wich few people interests. Wich makes it almost perfect for "Forgotten" hope mod ;)

So.... It looks awesome but what maps will have the sturmtiger?

I can guess "Battle of the Bulge" but other than that, what map should have it?

Btw, thx for the history lesson!

I think something like the Sturmtiger would be an excellent edition. On a map like Battle of the Bulge, there could be one sturmtiger. If protected and well placed it would be a very effective weapon and would really add a lot of death to the map.

Personally something like the Sturmtiger would be a unique addition that would really be neat.

Have you seen battleships using realistic reload times ? Or bomber aircraft landing and taking half an hour to mount a load of new bombs ?

So.....that long reloading time can be shortened considerably......but it has to be double or triple that of the slowest tank ROF to offset for its huge firepower.

Run 4 Da Gunwell anyone have the secret weapons xpack figure out how dice wants the sturmiger to reload

err.... it reloads by a bar that gradually increases until your ammo count drops. ;) If you mean how long... dunno... slightly longer than a Tiger [but only marginally IIRC]... haven't played SW or indeed BF for ages now...
