Real-BadSeedA whole buncha stuff...
It seems to me that the BEST solution to SL spawning is simply not allow the SL to become a spawnpoint until he has DIED and respawned again. That will keep people from using him as a spawn point when he gets into a good position. No, the squad leader becomes a spawnpoint after he has trucked it from a normal spawn position.
Also, the problems you mentioned eariler about back-capping and rambo-ing are 99% of the time due to HORRIBLE map design. Every map in BF2 has way too many control points and little if any choke points to control the flow of the battle. Of course in these situations one man will be able to sneak by and take an undefended flag in the back.
If FH2 maps will focus on strategically important flags and encorporate tactically necessary areas such as bridges, minefields, dense/impermiable forests, "frontlines" and other such things into the map design, I assure you this problem will be very limited! :nodding:
The aforementioned "domination" playstyle is another great alternative.
I IMPLORE you to come and play with Raptor and I on the tacticalgamer BF2 server. You will have the best games of BF2 you will ever play, and see what FH2 can possibly be if done right!

will fh have a more realistic real other than the graphics? like more vegitation, buildings, places to hide.
mabye the squad leader could be a class. maybe people who make a squad are forced to the class automatically. It could include a standard soldier layout but also has a deployable radio or somethin. People in that squad could then use that spawn point for a limited time, perhaps even coming down as airborn paratroopers. After the spawn point "deavtivated" it would be a while before a new one could be called again.
This could limit things like having squad leaders who choose to do useless things like sniping miles from the action since the squad leader would be limited to a certain layout, (an smg for a weapon, perhaps) The paratroop style spawning would give enemies fair warning that enemies were in the area, squad leaders would have to carefully plan were they can deploy their squad, and I think it would look pretty cool, IMO.
Just a thought.
great idea, but not all battles in ww2 had paradrops. see the problem is, every battle has its different focus.. i.e "Battle of Midway" a carrier face off mainly. "battle of the bulge" German armoured counterattack winter. so my point is, SL spawning if used, would have to be included, only on maps that it fits into the scenerio. its not something that should be generically just included into FH in my opinion.
then on those maps, it would seem like they may as well abolish squads altogether. I'm not at all impressed with the lack of cohesion that bf1942 and it's mods present. And I do see why some people are wary of direct BF2 style of spawning, (though that's really no more unrealistic than soldiers teleporting in at the magic beacon flag in the center of a map.). I think a compromise can be made in which SL spawning can be allowed.
well im hoping the flexibility of the new engine will allow custom spawning setups. specific to each map, unique to the scenerio.
Jetromabye the squad leader could be a class
Yes that would be my favourite too. I had this idea somewhere before in this thread, but it has been followed by so many new answers that you didn't see it I suppose ;) It would give full flexibility to the map designers. E.g. if you think your map would suck with squadleaders walking behind the enemy lines, then just don't include the SL class on your map!
I just found this one in the Info Thread in this forum: http://forums.filefront.com/showpost.php?p=2238786&postcount=2
That tent idea sounds great!
