I'll start off the idea of this thread, imagine what FH will be like with options like this... (lower screenshot)

Hmm? Choosing between M1 Garands, Thompsons and Carbines, KAR or MP40, will you be a Russian Private or a German Gefrieter? Post your thoughts on how much better FH will become with BF2.

I guess he means that new BF2 squad-system. Could be interesting :) But FH rocks as it is already :)

About everything? :)

Huge, detailed maps, destructable terrain, rag-doll physics, an effective and abuse-free spotting system (making scout planes worth something), team co-ordination, leadership and rankings (the WAW people will be heaven!).... DICE will have to work very hard to make this a bad game, and I don't think FH have it in them not to make a fantastic mod out of it.

My only worry is, does anyone have an inkling what the specs will be yet? As far as I know I've got a pretty high-range computer - P4, 2.53ghz, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9500/9700 - but at max settings, FH can still give me some lag. Vanilla BF2, a game twice the size of BF42, with stunning graphics and better physics, is likely to give me a run for my money as it is: FH2 will be terrifying! I'm not sure how much more I can upgrade... or am I worrying for nothing? I don't really understand how this stuff works in the real world - I just know the higher the numbers, the better. ;)

Yes... FH2 will rock, but I suppose we'll have to wait a lot to see a depurate version as 0.61 in the BF2 engine. Be patient and still playing the BF1942 + FH until it comes true :) By now, FH is a great game, and a lot of new games would like to be as playable as FH is. I'm not sure if we'll need a high-end machine to play a quality BF2. I hope my new athlon64 3200+, 1GB DDR 400 Mhz, Radeon 9600 Pro will be enought (please God, It MUST be enought!!). But I'm sure FH2 will need a better machine than BF2. Take a look at BF1942 & FH. You need a better machine to play FH than BF1942, because FH devs are always looking for new frontiers to exhaust the game's engine :D

Destructible terrain = NO.

I quote Scott Evans:

"Battlefield 2 offers a lot more in terms of destructible geometry, much more so than Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam. Buildings in specific areas of a map can be destroyed. Most of these areas are around control points or strategic locations, that people can use to define their tactics around."

Judging by this and other stuff I've seen of BF2, there won't be destructible terrain in BF2. You won't be able to de-form the landscape by, for example, blowing a mountain into nothingness with artillery fire. Not even every OBJECT in the game will be destructible. As Scott said in the interview I quoted him from, there WILL be certain objects which can be destroyed; usually around flag areas.

These pre-defined structures will allow a moderate level of 're-configuring' the battleground around important areas, but they likely won't compare even to Red Faction 2's VERY limited GeoMod engine, where you could destroy certain portions of the map (not everything) by repeatedly firing at it. Judging by the videos, if an object is destructible, it'll be completely wiped out when it's damaged enough (just like in BF1942 and BFV). No chipping away the building material, no 'let's make a small hole here behind which we can snipe people from', etc.

Just wanted to clear that out :)

EA really knows how to hype their games. I hope the best, but fear the worst.

You obviously have not seen the videos where the bridge gets multiple holes blasted into it in what appears to not be predesignated locations.

All I have to say is good luck to FH devs in converting a BF42 mod to BF2 :uhm:
