Johannes;4439364 On the other hand, there should be a distinction between such anti-partisan actions by an illegal government and the full-scale battles experienced by a legal government. In this case, I wouldn't have qualms with showing the standard Vichy forces of pre-Case Anton fighting for control of invaded colonial territory. The Battle of Langson against Japan in 1940, the French-Thai War of 1940-1941, the Syria-Lebanon campaign against the British and Free French in 1941, the Battle of Madagascar in 1942, and Operation Torch against the Americans in 1942 are all fair game in my opinion. By coincidence, a Vichy French-Free French clash is probably not necessary, since most of the troops during Operation Exporter were British Commonwealth, but I'm not against it in principle. The only pure Vichy-Free French clash would have been the very mild 1940 Gabon campaign.
At the Battle of Kissoue in Lebanon, Free French and Vichy units fought each other. In fact, Free French and Vichy units of the Foreign Legion were engaged in combat against each other.
At the same time I would like to see resistance battles like the Vercors, Auvergne, Glieres, and Balkans operations.
The SS in general not only gets messy, unnecessary politics into the picture, but portrayal of things like SS runes often have the same legal restrictions as the swastika in certain countries.
Yeah I know, but what about Wehrmacht units like the Spanish Blue Division?
Yeah, Vichy and Free French units fought each other throughout Operation Exporter, but my point was basically as I said: "Vichy French-Free French clash is probably not necessary, since most of the troops during Operation Exporter were British Commonwealth..."
Concerning such Wehrmacht units, is it really worth portraying them? I suppose if the battle called for it, then sure, but chances are very slim they would be necessary. It would be like portraying Hiwis. What's the point?
If anything, side maps will probably be left open to Fan Mappers :P We needed more Itie and Finnish maps in FH1 :P
I don't spend enough time here

Voted Russia, mostly because of the many amount of battles they were involved in, meaning shitloads of maps and vehicles xD
Johannes;4440645Yeah, Vichy and Free French units fought each other throughout Operation Exporter...
I´ve heard somewhere that Fallschirmjäger engaged SS-units that refused to surrender after the war.
I'm voting Russia for some PPsH action ^_^
But I would just like to see Caen with the Canadians again though. Even though pretty much all the weapons and vehicles would be British or American anyway, I just want to see a remake of the BF1942/FH1 map in FH2.
Dekkuune;4453095 I just want to see a remake of the BF1942/FH1 map in FH2.
not going to happen...
reason: Pegasus bridge... its not that close to Caen. (I've been there IRL)
What is more likely is a Pegasus bridge map... there is no need for a Caen map IMO as there are other city-battles more important, but who knows.?
bf42 Caen is a joke - allthough a great map, one of my fav 42 maps, but dont expect it in fh2 (expect better Caen map if so..)
if we get Canadian army in FH2, Im sure something like the Attack on Caen could be made, as well as Juno beach..it requires a bigger need than 2 maps though to develop that army.
Natty, isn't Caen the first map for normandy we know about?
yes, operation charnwood... that means canadians and urban fightings if i remember correctly.
