I was playing Midway on the Wolf Gaming FH server today and spent most of the game flying around in the allied torpedo-bomber, Devastator, hunting for ships and resuplying on carrier deck, back and forth.

Since the beggining of the game, i had an excellent tail gunner (can't recall the name, sorry)...and a pilot flying a Wildcat followed me ALL THE TIME, providing escort during the whole game! He even got his throttle to slow down to match my speed, and always kept a slighty higher position above my Devastator (which was flying very low near the water to avoid detection and AA fire).

It was the most efficient, disciplined and dedicated fighter pilot i've seen until today, on any server.

Everytime we met enemy planes he would break off the formation and engaged them - which gave me and my crew the chance to resupply and attack the ships at all time.

Slightly afterwards, an SBD joined the formation and we flew in perfect line around the map, hunting for ships and getting torpedos and bombs on them. And the fighter always kept flying with us, no matter how boring some moments could have been, when we had to fly all the way back to the carrier for resupply - he hang with us, making sure no plane would get us and also indicating enemy ships positions. I was amazed.

The fighter pilot name was Heatmiser. You can be my wingman anytime. Salute!

All games should be like this - perfect team work.

Yes, I agree. I was playing BF1918 yesterday, best teamwork I have ever seen in that mod. We had all deicided not to use tanks, for reallism. Therfore, I was able to act as forward observer for the 5 gun 150mm battery on one of the maps. We germans annilaated the french, with me slowly walking the art forward, stying just behind it. Even though germans had been losing something like 300-100, germans won due to these tactics. Whoever that arty man was, I have to hand it too you, even though it must have been awful boring for you, you wer great. Hope to see you in the trenches soon.

Things like that should be the norm, rather than the exception. Awesome story ;)

And the best thing about the story, is that it is absolutely true. I was expecting the guy to abandon me after a few flights, but he stood on the escort task until the map was over. I'm still amazed.
