Westbend;3745548Oh, I was under the impression that it was possible to use FH1 models as placeholders instead of actual BF2 models. My bad. :/

Well they would be able to us the actual FH1 model but it would still need to be retextured to work in BF2. Then you also would have to deal with often wrongly skilled objects in FH1 etc. So they decided to start from "scratch" (with the exception of some BF2 competible objects) for FH2 since in the long run it should save them time (not having to "redo" the entire Afrika equimpent etc. yet again).

And as Lightning said expectations are high, many fans would cry seeing 2001/2002 style models (low detail, wrong scale/proportions) in a 2006 (2007 for FH2) game.

I wonder why the release of "BF3" would have anything to do with the release of FH2.... its not like one new game makes the previous game obsolete... FH2 will not have much impact on FH1, there will still be players, same as there still are players for all battlefield games... its like saying "hey you better watch star wars II before star wars III comes out".. why?...

Westbend;3745515Yea, but dont forget FH1 had a large fanbase even when it was just all vanilla with a little realism stuck in. I think us realism fans are abit more forgiving then the arcade style action players from the other mods that are basically same game in different skin

POE isn't the same gameplay, its mutch intenser and it is still played. I can always join a server with a good connection and more than 30 people, certainly in weekends. They only made the mistake not to put any urban maps in their mod, thats the reason why so many people stopt playing it. I agree that forgotten hope team doesn't have to wait so long, they still can release patches.

I don't. I want a good release. I can play FH or something else, or having a life while waiting for FH2. I would even consider making the 4 major theatres in one release. As i said; I want a good release, not some "in between" crap. All the mods released now are mods that are no total conversions. POE2 and PR and DC, they didn't have to start from scratch because they didn't have to rebuild a +60 year old realistic era. In my opinion, POE2 feeks kinda empty, they should've worked on it longer than this...

To remake old stuff saves time in the long run:

Old hurricane, not bad for the old FH1, but...

New hurricane, maybe it will look nice even in FH3

Mods players were not exigent 5 years ago when FH was born, now you are, and we are more perfectionist and have learned some tricks, we always try to improve. Anyways we did some good stuff in FH1 that is being liberally added into FH2 with the small corrections it needs for BF2. But first release of mods must be solid as steel or they pay the rushing, as you can check easily with some mods released for BF2.

I don't mind waiting "a long time" for a release. It means I have more time to save up for a better system to run it :p

iirc Lobo once mentioned that when .5 was released, that killed some of the potential fanbase because it wasn't polished up enough or something (?)

The anticipation for 0.5 was crazy, and it had hundreds of thousands of downloads. Not was enough polished and we did lost potential happy customers for posterior releases, no doubt about it.
