zuiquan1;3746409 As far as I can tell no players.....same with PoE.....VERY small communities.

From GameMonitor.com's stats, POE2 ranks behind PR and DCON in active players. Unfortunately for us poor North Americanos, most of the populated POE servers are in Europe. My guess is that when the USMC comes in a future release, the NA servers will start to fill up again.

For the life of me, I just can't get people to download (and play consistently) these mods. This ridiculous badge and unlocks system in vanilla has created a universe of mindless lemmings. Some of my people started playing BF2 with the Gulf of Oman demo two years ago, and are still badge and unlock whores to this day! It is shameful. These are people that religiously played FH1, DC, EOD1, POE1, to name a few. Now...I can't get them to play something without bells and whistles.

Several months ago in our old forums, I posted the YouTube video of the FH2 Uboat with the Popeye theme song -- and some chump asked me if there would be a submarine badge. I was beyond speechless.

If you want your mod to succeed you need to draw their attention, and keep em playing, or else they wont come back....

Excellent point. I like the idea of an open beta, but a lot of people don't understand how that works.

We have to be glad there is even a rough estimate for release. An estimated release for the summer means it most likely will be released before christmas. Positive thinking, anyone? 12-14 maps means we'll get many more maps than the ones shown, even if only like 10 would make it to the release.

About the mods in general... I was really waiting the EoD2 release. When it came out, I was really busy with studies. After something like week after the release I went to try it online, only to find myself playing 12vs12. It may not sound bad to you, but I was really disappointed with the low player amounts on a just-released BF2 mod

At this time of the day looking at server stats dont tell much, but iirc it's something like 2-5% of all Battlefield 2 players who play mods. After over a year since the first mod release and many more after that, I dont think 2-5% sounds like the community has accepted the mods well.

Im afraid you are right. In the danish community, only a few of the old DC clans, have gone over to DCON. And DC has always been bigger with the danes, than FH, so I guess some serious promotion will be needed to get all the stat addicts to try FH2. And Im really doing my best to do so :naughty:.

Well, I'm working on a Single Player mod for FH1 (better campaign) so could the FH2 devs please, please DELAY the release of FH2 for as long as possible (no sooner than Christmas) so that my mod can come out first?

(runs away before being lynched by screaming hordes of outraged would-be FH2 players)

;) just kidding guys!

Eint that like more than the number of maps in Vanilla BF42? (LOL) I think the author of this thread makes some good points and in a decent and logical enough manner for it to be of serious consideration. But if history has taught me anything, is that FH1 so many years on, still holds up to many games today (For many of us, I think) - Simply cuz: a) It's a mod, gotta give em that b) It has one of the most realistic and yet fun sound effect, skins and gameplay for its time - And still holds up for some us even now c) It's WW2 baby! Like someone said earlier, even if BF3 came out (and chances are, it would also have arcade gameplay), it wont make FH2 any less of a game - I think even with just version 1 with 10 complete maps minimum (hoping), we would have a complete game already - And the devs promise future editions, so hey!
