Not likely...

Is it me, or is the Tiger tank vastly overpowered in .66?

I saw one on Valirisk today run through three AT mines, get hit full force by a katyusha strike as well as 2 bombs dead on from a Il-2, and it didn't take him out. And that was AFTER I spent some 20 AT rifle shots figuring out they did f*ck all to him... Hitting him 6 times from the rear with a light tank didnt seem to bother him either.

It took the coordinated effort of some 10-15 people on a 20 player server to take that one tank out, which caused us to lose every single flag.

I'm all for realism. But this is hardly the case, or?

Other than that, the patch and the new maps rOx my world and has made me become even more addicted to FH! :)

Well, first off, there's no IL-2 on Valirisk, only a Mig-3, and one bomb can easily take it out. Katyushas come handy too, when it's on the open and it's easy to destroy by going for top armor shots from the hills.

Well, no.

First off there aren't any IL2's on Valirisk, they are MIG3's. They've got 50 Kg bombs and if you hit the tiger dead on (in the engine deck behind the turret) you should kill it with one bomb. (Other wise it'll take two.)

Actually, anything will take it out with one shot in the back. AT rifles don't penetrate the tigers armour, so that's useless, even if you shoot 10 times.

Well, I figured the AT rifle out... but the light tanks? I was in one of those fast russian tanks (can't remember the name), and I spotted him lumbering off towards the hills from the northwest flag to repair. I counted six hits on his rear armor (flashing crosshairs and all), and he just kept going!

One thing I've wondered, that you may b able to tell me. Does range matter in FH? Will the shells of, say a MarkIV, have a harder time inflicting damage at 300 metres than at 50 metres?

Thanx for your help.

Well, thats because shots from other tanks either penatrate the armor (hp goes down) or it doesnt (no effect).

Its like shooting k98 at a apc.. wont do a thing, no matter how many times you shoot. a 50 cal will however, takes its hp down.

Thats how its (supposed) to work.

So, for an instance with the light tanks, there's a percentage chance of causing damage? Or is it pointless to even try?

its dependent on the tanks armor vs the at guns qualitys, and effect by range and angle. Most light tanks are vunerable, somtimes even in the front. Short of looking up armor values for every vehicle you look at (and the at guns penertration), the best spots (in loose order of more vunerabilty on average)- sides, back, turret back, uppers surfaces, and even the bottom. The front and front trurret are have the most armor usually.

Well, Tiger takes around twenty shots from BT-7 to take out from anywhere but top, so I wouldn't advise you to try that.

Your best bet still is to get on a hill and hit it at the top armor, or bottom armor, but that's a really rare chance.

But you're very likely to lose any kind of one on one against it on flat ground.

it's easy to kill a tiger with a ptrd, if you're positoned right and shoot at the right places. that is shooting at the roof of the turret or the back, or shoot at the bottom. This is easy on Valirisk as the terrain is full of hills and holes.

don't underestimate the power of hand held rocket launchers....aim at the tracks or get a shot from right above it..it won't kill automatically...but it does help that light tank out
