Here's how I think it should go:

Battle of the Bulge: Take out the river, or make it frozen so it can be crossed, but put in obsticles. Take out the old DiCE bridges and add new flat ones, all the hill areas should be taken out and trees, shrubs, old towns and flag should be added. Fog should be increased and made a bit darker, I'd like to see muddy roads and loads of old GMC truck wreckages in the ditches.

Battleaxe: This map can be improved in every way.

Stalingrad: I thought the old BF1942 and FH 0.5 one was quite fun, take out most SMG's and add more rifles and MG nests, make good use of the railways and space out the flags a little.

Battle of Britain: Decent map, push axis base a little further back and take out the pilot parachutes.

Midway: Decent map, island needs to be a little bigger, add barracks and take out the odd Japanese huts and defguns, or change them with custom statics.

Berlin: Crap map, needs a lot of work. Crossing the river in 0.61 was a good idea, now lets expand this. Take away the dull DiCE layout and add something similar to Call of Duty's Reichstag level.

Tobruk: Again, a crap map at times. Needs work with the lines and the villages need more variety. I hate the old DiCE 'lets add two factories facing each other' approach that we see in this map and about every other.

Operation Market Garden: What can I say? This map need a total revamp. Add more shrubs, trees and bushes, the roads should be muddy and high up with ditches and fields at each side, the town needs to be worked on as does the church and both main spawn. Adding something like the custom village houses that we see in Eastern Blitz and Counterattack would give this map a very 'Band of Brothers' feel. And what the hell is up with these crap pillboxes at each side of the bridge, and that damn ugly windmill?

Bocage: Expand the map. Take out the main bases and have small pockets of German resistance with a fleet of Allied tanks attacking from the south. More muddy/gravel roads, ditches, fields, shrubs, shrubs, shrubs, trees, odd villages and cottage houses, shrubs, bushes, hedgerows, hedgerows etc. And take out that damn church, or move and replace with a custom one.

Gazala: Not sure about this map, quite well done but there is a large part of this map that isnt used at all, except for Rambos to take the B-17.

Kursk: It was a fun map, but make it similar to Prokhorovka except with custom FH field statics used in Counterattack and masses of space. Just tanks, tanks and more tanks. A great opening for the redone T-34 series, Panzer III, Elefant, Ferdinand, Panthers, M3 Grant, Stuart. A lot of tank traps, obstacles and those very cool FH trenches could be used.

Kharkov: Again, I hate the 'two bases facing each other' DiCE approach. Add trees like Kharkov winter, add the Steipes and freeze up the rivers.

El Alamein: Take away that bloody hill. Again, masses of space on this map that can be used. Take away the spawn closest to Allied base and move it away, take away the odd villages too.

MkH^El Alamein's fun if you play on a server with planecamping allowed. Other than flying, it's absolutely horrid. If the planes had to stop to reload, the gameplay would be greatly enhanced, but as it is, it's nothing but terrible planerape. Just two pilots can keep the whole enemy armor from reaching the flags. How fun is that.

It's still pretty fun, as long as you have fighter pilots that act like fighter pilots. The Allies get planeraped worst IMO, because they don't have any pure fighter planes, so you always see Allied pilots doing CAS with every plane, instead of hunting Stukas. I think it would be better if they removed the bombs from the P40, and replaced the Defiant with another P40 (dunno why the Defiant is there, and I didn't think it carried bombs), and had the Hurri IIc as a CAS plane. If pilots have no bombs, most of them will go looking for aerial targets, which will help reduce planerape. (Ok, some "fighter pilots" still insist on strafing tanks with MG's, but what can you do? :D)

Some fighter pilots do strafe tanks with MG's, because on the majority of early war and Japanese tanks it causes damage, especially since 0.66. Unless you're refering to tanks like the Panzer IV and Sherman, then I see your point.

Don't get me wrong, I realise that some early AFV's can be killed by strafing. It's just that it rarely happens in one pass, and it makes the fighter vulnerable to ground fire in most cases. It just seems that every time I get taken out by an enemy bomber, all the friendly fighters are either vulching the enemy base (to get killed by flak) or strafing tanks (to be killed by ground fire) Very rarely do fighter pilots patrol or cover ground offensives. It's the old lack of patience thing IMO. Why fly around waiting for maybe 1.5 min tops for an enemy plane to threaten your ground forces, when you can go down to the deck and shoot at stuff RIGHT NOW?:rolleyes:

I hate the vanilla maps, they are in a different league to FH maps that are soo much more realistic. What I don't understand is why when you have so many great FH maps are so many vanilla maps included on server map rotation. They suck...period. Lose them:cya:

What does it matter if they are in? Just a few servers are running them and some of them are still not bad.

The best maps you can play anywhere right now are in fh, I think they are fantastic. However I personally dont think most of the old dice maps are good enough to remain in the mod, and no doubt could be much better if completely redone by fh mappers over time. Lets look at the evidence to support this claim by comparing vanilla maps with similar fh ones: Omaha beach/Omaha charlie sector Obviously not much needed to be said about the huge difference in quality between these two maps, for me this remake just highlights the talent of the fh mappers. Kursk/Prokhorovka Once again the fh version is a lot better and more realistic, prokhorovka has been developed and improved over time and is now a really good map. Battle of the bulge/Operation northwind Both represent different battles of the ardennes offensive, botb is one of the most popular dice maps around but when you compare it to northwind it makes you realize that if the devs ever took it upon themselves to remake it completely, they would make a far better version. When I go online I wanna play northwind much more than the boring old botb map. Kharkov/Battle of valirisk Again two completely different battles but very similar, yet again the battles are made bigger and better by fh, and much more fun. Bocage/Operation Goodwood Made much more realistically in fh, and without them stupid windmills which seem to plague a lot of the dice maps. Looks more like your fighting in the french country side. Bocage looks like it could just about be anywhere in the world! Tobruk/Supercharge I really like supercharge, gives a good impression of a wide offensive and looks as usual more realistic. Even has the minefield in the middle between both armies, historically a much better looking map than tobruk and plays better. Market garden/Arnhem This redone urban map (arnhem) is still one of my favorite fh maps, the street fighting is so much better than the small city in market garden. I could go on with comparing dice/fh maps, but at this point I think its unnecassry. I personally think for now only the best vanilla maps should be left in for version 0.67. I too only want to play new fh maps, Ive been playing vanilla maps for years online, and Im really sick of them. Are we stuck with them forever in fh? How much longer are we gonna have to play them in fh? If anyone still wants to play them online, just join a pure vanilla server and play them their. I came to fh mod for somethink new. Surely they wont be ported over with fh too bf 2 and were all playing them in years to come, lol no way. I know peaple still like the old maps, but I just think they could be made so much better. Take stalingrad vanilla must admit "classic" map but like all the vanilla maps way too small it just dosent do the battle justice. Im really hopeful that armin ace is gonna redo this map. Well thats my view for ya...
