tvihIn Vanilla you get damage from even the slightest bit of water. In FH, you don't. For example in Breakthrough you can drive over that river from one point, up where the bridge is destroyed. Doing that in Vanilla just wouldn't have been possible.
You may get damaged from the slightest bit of water in vanilla but it is not impossible to cross rivers. I remember on the CAL-O finals my clan used to cross the river on Kharkov with a tank(Axis and allied but it is more important on allies) to quickly capture the "hill" spawn because of its strategic importance. This strategy defeated the opposing team and got us into CAL-I :D

Yes, tanks take very little damage from water. Going too deep will only get you killed, the tank will last few minutes. Moving quickly over a deep drain or small river your tank will take only slight damage. Why you are taking damage while driving off the landingcraft is because you are moving too fast and the tank will sort of collide with the beach underwater.
