'[FtN|GT Die Happy;4622405'] vista alone idling takes 1-1,5 GB just for doing NOTHING, well and looking shiny. vista with less than 4GB RAM is a waste of money and resources imo. if you get vista for direct X 10 you will like to play the games i high quality and this mkaes your 2 GB issuficient. if you dont want vista for direct X 10 DONT USE IT.
Vista will free up RAM space for when a program wants to use it. I run 2 gigs right now with all the 'pretty' features and its only using 650mb (31%, 38 processes running) right now.
Well, the reason I run FH1 in Vista at all is becuase of how sweet Fh sounds as it is, coupled with the fact that for some reason I didn't get the 5.1 in XP - Only in Vista...
Anyone know which settings on my PC I need to change to get XP using 5.1 for BF42, I'd be happy to revert...
Maybe I should consider FH2 in XP only huh? That I can do
And about the tank hatches? Anyone?
Oh, and I recall sometime back on another Vista installation, no cross-hair, but I was playing Charlie Sector COOP and got these lovely shake effects when I threw a nade into a bunker, I'm not sure I get those now, but the question is, is there some vibration effect from close explosions that I'm unaware about in the BF42 engine, cuz I'd love to have that if possible
I've tried to use vista for developing and playing fh2, it was the most horrible experience imagineable. No tools worked properly and FH2 i could only run good after setting some graphic settings to medium. Reverted to XP no problems! of course not all have this but I will never use Vista again. Even sold my Vista ultimate but almost no one wanted to buy it, in the end i got it sold but for less than half the price!
I kinda was hoping DX10 would have some effect of sort... I dunno... I 'm actually shocked that Crisis is suposed to be better in XP - I can't even 'see' very high settings in XP, but i can set them in Vista...
oh and btw, thanks NTH_NL. I think I'll start with that solution and see how it turns out
For Fh, I don't expect much there - Although the shake effect I mentioned earlier would have been nice, but for FH2, I was hoping for some kind of improvement...Something....
Ah well, so basically, any advice regarding the 5.1 and screen shake for FH1, and the tank hatch?
ShakeEffect for BF42 was added in patch 1.4 if I remember correctly. You can turn it on using the console --> Soldier.CameraShakeFactor 1.
5.1 in XP, check your windows speakers settings, maybe there aren't configured for a 5.1 setup.
Tank hatch, don't know what you mean.
Tank Hatches in FH2 - Do they open and close when people get in the tank? cuz I see some movement when they explode (At least the PZIII), but I don't ever see them closed when in use
My 5.1 works with Vista i.e. Fh1 in Vista - But not in XP... I get only 2.0 in XP. I was hoping someone would tell me how to switch that
thanks for the tip on shake - Heck, what else is in Fh1 console etc, I never got to find out about besides all the goodies I still have never seen (The glider for instance)
