as far as i played FH2, the Grant's weakness i observed are.

1. near the main gun.

2. back. (AP also works)

3. upper turret? (this is unconfirmed)

4. side which is near the back.

you can kill the Grant with 1 PZG40 from Panzer 3J or better hit to these positions.

Not sure about HEAT rounds though.

hitting the other parts means no kill with 1 shot and he will 1 shot you :smokin:

Valentine

1. seemed to be the place under the turret. Often badly damage with 1 shot, HEAT often kill with 1 shot in front. (PZG40, HEAT)

so far i found hitting the back/side worthless. so Valentine tankers could consider facing your side to enemy instead of your front.

Matilda

1. the back, 1 shot could badly damage it.

the side don't seemed to be weak at all.

Sherman (rarely killed it with a tank)

1. the Back of course...

2. maybe the vision slit.

So far i found the HEAT most useful when with a frontal hit.

Share what you found!

I have found that the Valentine can take multiple PzGr40 shells from less than 200m and still survive. Consequently, I do not put a lot of time or energy into trying to figure out the system, since it's never going to be realistic (in large part due to engine limitations).

Some screenshots

1. Grant

a. The back is the most vulnerable, but make sure you are not too nervous to hit the upper turret.

b. the front, hit this part is much easier than the other. Medium Distance to ensure 1 shot kill, AP shells takes 2 hits close distance, better not try it unless you are forced to do so, if you are lucky you could disable it.

c. the side, the one painted with red is most vulnerable, again don't hit the turret(blue) or else no kill. Long Distance also kills, again , AP shells need 2 hits, but 1 hit will probably disable it. Close range always 1 shot kill.

the redddd part could be damaged by PZG40 from a panzer 2.

2. Valentine.

a. the back, AP shells don't hurt it though. The engine don't seemed to be a weak point...

Spoiler: Show
weakval1fb2.jpg

b. The front, both AP and PZG40 works for the upper part, but only PZG40 hurts the thread. About 2-3 shots for PZG40 while 3-4 shots for AP.

Spoiler: Show
weakval2qa4.jpg

3. Matilda

a. the back... hitting that part blew up the tank no matter which shot you using.

Spoiler: Show
weakmatildakx6.jpg

4. Panzer 4

Spoiler: Show
weakpz4es6.jpg

hit this with a 2 pdr...2 shots.

5. Panzer 3 a. The back, 2 shots from 2pdr

Spoiler: Show
weakpanzer3ug3.jpg

b. the front, again, 2 shots from 2pdr

Spoiler: Show
weakpz3zy2.jpg

don't ask me to test it with range, they are almost impossible to hit

I dont want to spoil this, but I HATE THE VALENTINE :D <3 With study, we found, the REAR portion of the Side [ ][ ][ ][X] Can instantly knock out a Valentine if 1 HEAT shell is placed there, 100% of the time :D And yeah, PzG on the Valentine are practically worthless, 1-7 bars of damage, no matter where D:

For those who don't use tanks...

Well I've never found a sweet spot with the grant when firing a AT rifle at it, So I'll assume it is protected from those, But If you have enough nerve to get up close and personal one AT explosive charge will destroy it if you place it on the back end.

As for the Marder I don't know if there was a write up on it somewhere else. But I flanked one as a sniper once (Harassing my tanks from a distance) Anyways get in perfect position to take out the guy while he is firing the gun, and realized that He isn't actually sitting in the open Like he should be. Ended with a scout plane flying over giving away my location and him running me over (I moved between the lags so it didn't hit me), and then backing up and shooting me.

I suspect the tank combat is about as realistic as you can get with BF2's engine, which is to say, still not at all realistic. It's better than standard BF2, though. Much better.

Still, penetration is not calculated because it's all health bars. the only thing close to it would be a sweet-spot hit that gets you an instant kill, but it's still not the same thing.

I don't have stats in front of me, I just find it incredibly irritating that XYZ tank shell will damage the tank at ABC range, but won't actually kill it. I suppose I see tank combat as a far more binary system where you're either alive or dead, and "losing health" isn't really accurate. I could see the armor weakening, but that's not exactly what "losing health" seems to represent.

Unfortunately, I guess there simply won't be an FPS that can realistically model tank damage in a convincing way. RO and the Armored BEasts mutator comes close, but even that has its flaws. Ah well.

Well it's settled then. The FH devs have a great team. They need to finally hire some codemonkeys to design and build a game engine. Then they can just form their own company and sell FH3 and we'll all have the best WW2 game conceived.

I found the best spots for the AT rifle are in BETWEEN the road wheels, it hurts them pretty well, but will still take a lot of damage before dying. The very lowest portion of the rear also works good.

It would be great. :bows: But seriously. Would they be able to finance this, and how far can they get with investors wanting a nice profit?? EA gamefactory... :moon:
