i just realised that in every WW2 movie or game each gun has a completely different sound from another game...... DOD's garand is a deep thud/swish sound but in MOHAA and COD there really light sounded......in Saving private ryan the thompson is really deep and powerful but in BoB it sounds like a potato pealer........... why does this happen and why the hell doesnt someone go down to the range and fire the real weapons so we don't have to put up with this annoying crap any more cause it's starting to really get to me......

Good point there.......

But it must be not that easy since we are talking about WWII weapons. They are still fired on firing ranges, but by enthousiast that are difficult to find and are spread all over the world.

And then there is the question what ammo they are using.......using modern ammo in old weapons can produce an entirely diffrent sound.

On internet sound fragments of real WWII battle can be downloaded and studied though.....

I too am waiting on the first mod that has a realistic sound........the easiest to recognise for me is the MG42.......i havent heard a realistic one yet in any mod.

Maybe the FH devs will do that later........they are busy with so many things at the same time, stuff like sound may be forgotten a bit.

im not sure, but in my .22 calibre L.R. the sound is completly different for each kind of bullet i have: subsonic, hollow point, steel head..... maybe but dunno, the ammo was different in each game or the range was in the forest or inside a building......

The problem is that even if you have the orginial weapon it is not that easy to record the sound of it because, who'd have guessed, a weapon can be quite loud when you shoot it. You need special equipment to record such sounds. And if you really want realistic sounds you should record the firing-sound from different distances. In games the sounds are often changed after recording so that you can hear a difference between weapons more easily.

well, if its MOA, dont trust it for realism. what matters the most is the environment that you are shooting in. my 1911 sounds totally different when shooting outdoors as opposed to an indoor range. but i'd have to say that the CoD and BoB sounds are the most realistic. MOA sucks ass at everything, and DoD guys have probably never fired a garand.

This is the same question that I have been asking myself forever. Certainly all guns of the same type sounded the same. But for every movie, game, TV show, etc, there is a different sound for each and every one of them!

I like Call of Duties sounds, so it's what I use in FH, also the MG34 from SHoWW2 is brilliant, really sounds like a beasty weapon
