theres no stealing necessary. what they did, I assume, is they added a new pushable vehicle "pak40" and then had it as a spawning vehicle from the opel blitz... sorta like the landing crafts on ships, etc. all you need to do is add mobile physics to the pak, and you have deployable AT.

ArisakaKTiger-506-Captured-Big.jpgThis Tiger II from the 2.Kompanie/schwere Panzer Abteilung 506 was captured by American troops and restored to running condition by Company B, 129 th Ordnance Battalion by 15 December 1944. reference they would use anything they came across. in the book "Wiking Panzer Division Im Bild" you'll find T34s, old, outdated Renault tanks, and a lot of other different designs.

I remember that pic, but as said before it was only restored to running condition.. then probably brought to a safe place for detailed study. I cant imagine the allies having a tractor available that could easily tow that beast if at all. All im saying is, it would have been nice if all the map-changing uber-heavy monster tanks such as the tiger/2,Is2/Kv1/2 and maybe later the pershing.. Because when these things are captured its hard, if not impossible for that team to recover.. How do you think about taking on a tiger/Kv1 and a shack load of regular tanks with a Panzer4 or a stug3? Yeah, thought so. But hey, its not going to happen, the people that claim that "its no fun if you cant steal the KT(or insert random heavy tank here) out of its hanger after you bail from a jeep/plane", or the "**** you noob, its realistic! defend better you whore" keep the devs from implimenting it, because the devs are only people as well.. i think.

I wonder if it would be possible to make mains sort of out-of bounds just to the enemy team..that way anyone bailing over your flag would get the out of bounds counter on them. This could even effect fly overs. You would give players a 10 second count to steal a vechile.

i mentioned several points in the more recent post to avoid it being stolen from main bases. such heavy and vital weapons should only spawn in main, and would then be protected by the main base automatic defences. if it is abandoned in the field it should be guarded. not that hard to do, just look for the enemy recovery vehicle and deny it access to the field. if all hell breakes loose kill it when you're retreating.

what i'm trying to say here is that it should be protected when it's untouched, but when it's out in the open, in the field and abandoned it's not really stealing, is it?! it's capturing booty! heavy tanks would need a greater effort to get running than lighter tanks, and would then require the recovery vehicle to stay longer, thus exposing itself for longer time. considering the importance that can be given to such a vehicle it may be deemed too risky to try to get one of the heavy tanks abandoned in the field.

also some more shots: PzKpfw 753 (r), KV-1 KV-1 KV-1 PzKpfw T-34 747(r) Actual pictures of soviet vehicles in german service, featuring KV1, KV2, T34, T26, SU-85, etc Various, featuring french stuff, polish stuff NL stuff, 7TP, Valentine, Churchill, Sherman Firefly, Matilda II, Greyhound, M4A3 Sherman

Captured American M4A3 Sherman in the Ardennes, January of 1945. It was used by 5th Paratroop Jager Division, along with five more.

more of the same

so, seizing enemy equipment is fair enough, it must just be controlled so that they cannot be taken in their spawn position. ....wonder if we can get the mod-coordinator for BF2 to give the engineer the ability to paint on vehicles *dreaming*

That Tiger II reminds me of a story I always liked about a US armored unit coming down a narrow wooded road and comes upon a Jagdtiger broke down in the road. The US ARV's tried to move it but failed. Combat enginners arrived and tried to blowe up the Jagdtiger with explosives. This also failed.

What wound up happening was a bulldozer Sherman bulldozed the road around the Jgdtiger and the road was made usable by the Engineers. The armored cououm then proceeded after having been delayed IIRC two days.
