RAM and lots of it. Swapfiles and BF don't mix well.
AMD 1700+ XP @ 1.5Gigz 512MB DDR Ram GForce 3Ti200 Pro @ 128mb Ram.
And I got nada problems running FH.
You actually spent money for a 3fps increase in most games? The 9800XT is only 2.5fps faster than the 9800 Pro.
well ... if you are upgrading for fh ...,... and you have anything better then 1,4ghz + gforce 2/ 4mx ... like 1,5ghz +gforce 3 ... then spend your money in ram ....
FH eats ram like nothing ....
if you have 512
-remove your background desktop pic -set your system perfomance settings to "optimum" -deactivate your swap file ... reboot ... defrag your hds ... set your swapfile to 4096min & max... reboot
this should already help .. and for all: "regedit"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl" set the DWORD-value "Win32PrioritySeparation"="26" (Hex) (win2k / winxp)
and of course disable all background programs you dont need ..especially antivirus tools ... because toolss like avp are scanning while running a game and this eats a bunch of perfomance
you can deactivate a bunch unnesecary progs via "msconfig"
**** IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMGE YOU GET IF YOU FOLLOWED MY TWEAKS***
this is my standard sentence if i give hints how to tweak a system
well i just now turned down my video settings to medium and the texture quality to %80 and turned off environment mappings
my sound settings are: 22khz medium quality sound and i didn't put hard ware acceleration on since i didnt know what it did so my sound channels are on 32 I only have the Sound Blaster Live series not the audigy so yeah and my framerates have been better a bit. when i first posted i had tryed it on prokovoka so maybe thats' why it was choppy
I routinely run FRAPS in the background or you can go to console and type "FPS 1"
I routinely run 90fps but for some reason there are some parts of some maps where I drop to 10-15fps. But for the msot part eh game runs fine for me.
Heres my game system:
Leadtek Nforce 2 Mobo AMD XP2200 and HSF 1024GB DDR333(PC2700) WD80GB ATA100 HDD Visiontek Geforce 4 Ti4200-128MB 4X AGP Built in Nforce 2 sound Built in 10/100 NIC
Your system has a much better video card and mine is only a little bit faster. Add more RAM and look for the thread with Black Vipers Windows optimizations and you should be OK.
I'd suggest tweaking audio details, and trying medium details. It's odd but I've sometimes seen rather extensive fps improvement after turning to medium detail on "good" machines.
well to turn off "enviroment mapping" brings the most fps if you still have to adjust your settings after this tweaks ... but then you never yhave this cool "metal effects"
