from my recent experience on FH, I wonder which weapons in the mod can penetrate glass? When I was in the Kharkov Outskirts map, I was driving in an enclosed truck as a Russian. I tried to evade German tanks, but this one tank fired its machine gun at me, killing me but not the truck. In the wake island map one time, the axis player in a Betty bomber made a tricky landing on the island (it's in a place far from the airfield area). He was still in the pilot's seat, so we tried to shoot the pilot while in the cockpit. But the bullets didn't penetrate the cockpit glass. Does it depend on what gun is used?
It depends on the plane, at least it should. Some fighters and bombers had bulletproof (read: very thick) glass that could stop a machinegun round. But it should not stop a cannon round, or maybe even a .50 cal shell.
Yep it all depended on the thickness of the glass. It wasnt that rare that pilots were killed leaving an almost sound plane crashing just because one lucky bullet went at the right angle, didnt suffer much deviation and killed the pilot. But yea it also depends on gun used as usma pointed. (also microflaws in the glass, (overall quality of the glass))
Also since there were no plastic layers the impact on the glass wouldnt really penetrate it, but it would cause a lot of glass fragments (shrapnels) flying on the other side of the cockpit (thus killing or injuring pilot).
As for the jeeps, well, a fist could break them so, I guess a bullet does also heh.
Unfortunatly, the buggers in Cornered Rat Software never fixed this for WWII Online.
Ahh, how many times have I been killed by a random AI MG34 while chasing after a Fw-190 at 450 kilometers per hour?
so an anti-tank rifle shot can go right through the glass of a plane whether it be the cockpit or gunner seat?

how old is wwii online. also they would put a armor plate behind the pilot. the glass was often times very thinck and could probobley stop a .50 cal. round. but not a 20mm cannon of coarse. the glass on bombers were not good at all at protecting the gunners. they just kept the wind from blowing in.
I did remember in the "combat flights" thread I made, somebody in the forum who said he was one of my crewmates in the B-25 in Gazala map said someone from our team shot him with an AT gun while he was in the front gunner seat of the B-25.
It is several years old (version 1.0 came out in 1999, IIRC) however it is updated rather frequently. Last update, to version 1.2 (doesn't sound like much, but it IS, they go very micro with update designations) was just released last month.
It included three new tanks the Tiger Ausf. E, the M10, and the Churchill Mk. VII.
A free trial is due sometime soon.

hopefully battlefield 3 will be as large as that with hundreds of players but EA would need help from the fh devs
Damn I wish I had money.
