In my opinion it's in the neighbourhood of 30 seconds. Long "spawn" times mean:
- That killing infantry matters more.
- That the game is more realistic.
- That you won't be killing people just to have them pop right back in to be killed again or to kill you.
- That you have to be a lot more careful and intelligent in the field as you'll have to wait a little before you get back in.
I hear people go "oh my God, x seconds?! Why did you set it to such an eternity!?" But with all due respect, thirty seconds is hardly an eternity. If you can't wait for thirty seconds for something (and in FH's case, you'll have the view of the battle field to entertain you), you seriously need some patience courses. I can't imagine what it's like to wait five minutes for a bus if you can't wait thirty seconds for something (). As a side note, if you end up on a server with a "spawn time" of "a short eternity", please don't whine about it. Instead, you can go to one of the 95% of the servers on-line with a very short "spawn" time and leave the few that have a long "spawn" time alone. Your opinions?
I like long spawners. The idea would of course be 500 player servers where everyone only lives once. Get it too long though and the "numbers illusion" begins to break down.
I like long spawntimes, if there is something i hate its attacking a flag, killing 3+ enemy's, going for the flag only to have all three respawn ontop of me with smg's.
cant stand long spawn times, i dont have 18hrs a day to play. so the 1 or 2 hrs i do have, i want to spend playing not watching... and its all relative, if everyone spawns fast it makes for a faster more intense game. and vise versa.. slow spawntimes=slow gameplay
I personally am partial to longer spawn times, of around 20-30 seconds, especially on maps like Gold Beach where the flags take 10 seconds to cap. With 5 second spawn times during a map like Gold Beach, it becomes nearly impossible to take a flag, due to the fact that the entire opposing team spawns around you whenever you're in the process of capturing the flag, killing you before the flag has a chance to change. Despite the fact that waiting 20 seconds in between deaths can be annoying, it also helps gameplay greatly in a positive manner.
20-30 seconds. Not too long, but long enough to make people think twice before wasting their "lives".
Oh I am patient. Its just that including the long load time to actually get into a map, it will usually go like this: Spawn run die 30 seconds spawn run die 30 seconds spawn run die 30 seconds... If you do this you have everything acting more careful, this causes nothing to get captured. Doesn't work with Battlefield, sorry.
I hate spawn waves. Every time I have single handedly killed all enemies at a Capture Point, I am contesting the area and then they spawn back... Its like a group beating. Like they say "revenge is sweet". And when I get killed while defending a flag I always get so long spawn time that the player who attacked dont need to worry about my second attempt stopping him.

Uhm... it sort of depends on how good the teamplay is. I really like good teamplay and there is more chances of this taking place if the spawntime is a little bit on the long side. This causes more players to spawn in the same area at the same time, and impromptu coordinated actions do take place from time to time. That is the best thing about playing FH on a public server imho. However, I also like to have a battlefield full of enemies and friendly forces and if the spawn time increase too much it often gets a little bit empty on the battlefield, particualry this is notable on smaller maps and on smaller servers (ie a 32 player).
I think I like the gameplay a little bit slower than you, I love the buildups and attacks when there is a team attacking, and you don't get much of that on a 10s respawn server. EVerything, fast = vanilla battlefield :P or hey, BF2 ;)
There is another good wwii conquest game around called red orchestra in which the "team group up" factor is upped by soldiers spawning at the rear CP in most maps, although the respawn times vary from server to server it is mostly about the same as on fh servers, it is just that you don't get the irritating AT guy you just killed near the flagzone spawning back with ppSh to get the upper hand on you. Instead, they spawn back, all 5 who just died, at their rear CP and you may be facing a coordinated (eh...sometimes ;) ) counterattack in one minutes time. Get the defence up!
I like the spawn times as they are now. Sometimes they do are bit too fast, that I agree, but I dont see that as a problem...
