Another point is that while its true that portee mounted A/T guns are vulnerable, how vulnerable is the gun crew of a stationary gun that cant start the engine and run away when they are noticed?

If they are lucky they will have to relimber, hook up and flee in their quad. Reading reports of Sidi Rezegh on a few occasions they had to do just that while under fire and in one instance a towed A/T gun battery was on the move and suddenly had one vehicle destoyed which brought the unit to a halt and mad scrambling to the guns to drive off the sudden apperance of enemy tanks.

General TaskeenWhat FH needs is more additions to the german airforce.

Currently, the 109e and 109g version use the same exact models.

Here's a diagram that shows the visual differences between the most commonly used versions.

The C version is pre-wwii (Spanish Civil War). The D version was obviously the predecessor of the C, with a stronger engine, and was used when WWII broke out. Although, the E version quickly replaced it. The later, F, G, and K versions obviously replaced the E with the introduction of a nose cannon, instead of wing mounted MG's.

Also, there is hardly any variation in the skins for the 109's.

Plenty of aces and fighter groups painted wonderful schemes on their aircraft and here are some examples:

Same goes for Fw 190 in terms of more variants and skins:

In another thread not to long ago, Jackal 2X said he had modelled a Bf109(G?) which he was going to put in so that may make an appaearance soon. A Fw-190D-9 would be a welcome addition too.

yea this is true, it was one of the criticism of the 88 enplacemnt that they offered little protection to there large gun crews. Of course its great peformance against the tank accomadate this somewhat a vunerabilty nonethless I think with dismounted at gun its more a case of hiding very well then ambusing. In the desert I imagen its harder do this so its not hard to see how hit and run tactics could work better there. Having the gun mounted up higher might not have been all bad as it would allowed a slight greater angle of attack. In any case this was soemthign that effected unarmored portee's as well who would be vunerable to mg fire too.
