Knifing is the best experience you can have online, aside from internet "escort" services (not that Id know anything about that). Knives kill in one shot to the head, are silent, and are usually pretty fun to use because if you charge a gunner with a knife, 8 times out of 10 he will draw his and have a knife fight instead of just shooting you and that gives you the advantage.
I'm not one of these knifer guys. My experience was I first snuck up on a enemy sniper, tried to shoot him with my rifle, he changed to knife and bye bye Guinny Ire. Second time a little voice said "use the knife moron". 'nuff said

in my experience, after emptying out their ppsh magazine, they run backwards and throw grenades at their feet, all the while i am chasing them with my knife. I've seen people actually have mg42s, then run out of the room as soon as cookie takes out his knife, my word what cowards :(
Guinny_Ire Enjoyed using my glasses to spot artillery. Drove the artillery guy nuts calling it in but I wasn't sure anyone was hearing me because of no response.
Thats probably because most people don't take any notice at all - in most public servers most players are just interested in getting a high score rather than helping team mates. I find that (decent) clans & their servers are the best place for teamwork. Ask for assistance, you'll prolly get it, paint a target for arty, someone will prolly rain some hell down for you etc.
well, not every one is only out for them selves, ive grabbed a sniper kit on kursk i think and was directing arty directly into the axis spawn point.
Two bits of advice for the novice player:
1.) Don't spam the artillery call. Every time you call in an artillery strike on a target, it resets the camera. What this means is that if someone else is about to shell a position and you call in another position (assuming you called the last one they're viewing), their aim will get all screwed up. Not everyone will respond, unfortunately. As an added suggestion in this same vein, if you're on an artillery piece, hit the "Artillery ready for target!" buttons (I think it's F5 then F6, but I may be wrong). When someone calls in the strike, hit "Roger!" (F1, F1). That way they know you're targeting and that they don't need to call in again.
2.) If you run into a TKer, never EVER fire back on them. On any decent server (IE: one with admins) just let the admins know, and take screenshots (PrintScrn key). TKing a TKer makes you no better than him, and probably gives the sick bastard an unusual degree of pleasure. If you're looking for a good place to play that has competent admins, check out WOLF servers. When the admins are on, we keep the place pretty clean. Just make SURE you read the server rules first. Otherwise you might end up getting kicked without knowing why.
Good call on #1 Solo, I was thinking the very same thing. The only correction is that calling "Arty ready for targets" is F2 F6. Otherwise, great post. Here is a helpful link listing the Function key combos for various commands: http://members.shaw.ca/battlefield/voicecommands.htm JTM ps. As long as I'm on corrections, has anyone else noticed that discussion is spelled wrong on the Forum "General Discusion"? :D pps. Please don't spam Submarine Spotted on land-only maps. It's been done a million times by someone else and it's really not funny.
Ohh... one more point I should add to my stickmen "dos and don'ts"
I just wanna redefine basecamping and baseraping.
Basecamping: Haveing one or 2 people sit in an uncappable base ambushing people who are spawning (usually while the rest of the game is going on)
Baseraping: Having an entire team literally "rape" the other team as they spawn in thier main base. With tanks, artillery, infantry, whatever. Everyone is in there, getting a piece of ass. Usually only occures when the rapeing team occupies the rest of the map, and have nothing else to do but keep the other team locked in until the map is over. It's usually a mapping issue that results in baseraping.
Ratholeps. As long as I'm on corrections, has anyone else noticed that discussion is spelled wrong on the Forum "General Discusion"? :D
Haha, yeah I've noticed that for a long time too.
