For me I came to FH from BF1942. I was told to download it if I wanted to remain in the 21st Panzer. So I did, I downloaded FH0.5 & started playing. I remember been stuck on the El Alamein airfield unable to respawn because of a bug. I remember the 100 Mini patchs that came out. I remember the unskinned Panther on kursk :). So where did you come from & how did you get into FH, What are you favorite memories :P

Finding FH was pretty much fate for me.

Here we go (long-ish story ahead):

Back in the beginning of 2004 or at the end of 2003 I was at my local Barnes & Noble bookstore reading a gaming magazine. Having been a Star Wars fanatic early on, I saw (and read) an article on the yet to be released Star Wars Battlefront. In the article they mentioned a game called Battlefield 1942 and the premise of both these games sounded really cool to me. At this time I wasn't very much into computer games and didn't know how to really operate computers very well; all I played on the computer were RTS (mostly C&C:Red Alert with friends).

Well, one day, a couple of weeks, later I decided I wanted to go to EB Games and look for this game called Secret Weapons over Normandy or another WW2-type game for some reason. When I entered the store, on one of the side racks in the center of the floor, I saw that game called BF1942. I read the description on the back of the box and it sounded really good, so I bought it. When I got home and tried it out I was amazed by how non-linear the gameplay was! I was instantly hooked.

From that point on, I played Vanilla for about one or two months (not very long) before I looked at the in-game browser more closely. I saw all these grayed out server names (many more than for Vanilla) and, being somewhat of an OCD perfectionist, I wanted all of those servers to be available. I found out that they each were running a different MOD, so the search began!

Desert Combat was the first one I downloaded because it was by far the vast majority of those gray servers on the list. I downloaded it and played it for a day or two, but I wasn't used to how everything worked (even the Vanilla stuff). I remember trying to use binoculars to spot moving tanks and not actual places on the map! :P

The next mod on the list was Forgotten Hope...

I downloaded the latest version .61 and I was in heaven! I never played something that good before, it was the game for me! After that day I stopped playing all other mods and Vanilla and played FH day in and day out! My home was the WOLF server where I became a fan of such players as Maxwell Silverhammer, the Evil food guys, mumsgonetoiceland and some others. In those early days I didn't know what clans were so I changed my game name to Evil M&M (m) at one point and got yelled at by the Evil guys, lol!

Eventually, I found the tournament WaW where I settled in and learned everything there was to know about the game. Thus, FH became the only game that I have played religiously since discovering it.

Long live Forgotten Hope, my game of choice! :bows:

Played 1942 since it came out, have all the expansion packs, they were fun for awhile but then I started searching for something more...and i found FH (I believe it was in its .6 version at the time). I suppose I could be labeled as a Battlefield enthusiast since I went through 1942, Vietnam, and BF2 and I still have them all installed and play them depending on my taste.

I suppose my favorite memory of a game was while playing Coral Sea. Myself and four of my buddies were playing in Wolf and were in our vent. We were all American and i remember one time all of us went in on a bombing run against the Japanese carrier. One after the other we all dropped our bombs and made it away clear... except my last friend.

He'd been having some bad luck i suppose since in every map we played when we attacked something as a group we'd all live except him, he'd always get shot in the back or blown up or something (kind of like that token guy in every war movie who would get shot and the Sarge would be like "JIMMY, NOOOOOOOOO!" or "They got Johnson!"). Anywho, so in he comes, right behind us and he doesn't even get shot down or collide with anything, his plane just explodes for no apparent reason. Much profanity henceforth ensued and I remember laughing so hard that I crashed my plane into the side of the American carrier.

You came from XWW2O__O What name did you play under?

I got BF42 from a friend in highschool, and liked it a lot. I then got Desert Combat, but wasn't a fan. In looking for a realistic mod, I found XWW2, which I fell in love with, and quickly became a hardcore fan of, and still am (still an honorary 3rd ID member too:P). I then got into Finnwars for a long time as well, where I met 130th members, and became friends with them, even getting them into XWW2. Eventually I had to stop playing FInnwars when they put a high ping kick on their servers, losing several Finnish friends:(.

However, I continued playing XWW2 with the 130th until they finally convinced me to download this "Forgotten Hope" and join their clan. Well, I did, and found I didn't like how it was balenced, but I liked being able to play something realistic with more then 5 other peopleXD I joined the 130th on August 30th, 2004, about 2 days after I had first gotten FH. And well, here I am now.

My brother was one of the founding devs of FH, and me and him played BF1942 since its beginning. I was able to watch FH grow and develop to what it is today. Even when the mod was just an idea written down on a piece of paper. I played every beta since the first internal, and kept playing it till this day. Needless to say, I'm very proud of everyone who worked in the mod. I really had no idea it would become this big and having such quality.

Only played BF2 three times - didnt like it. Waiting for FH2.
