Ply3r_17Prokhorovka is an outstanding map, yet to play it successfully you will need at least 768mb of Ram. Ram isnt expensive lately, either.
I have 512mb RAM and Prokhorovka usually runs fine on my PC. Only it takes ages to load the map. But I'm not thinking about spending money just to play BF with less lag, not yet at least :)
EglaerinionYou can change the pingers, it's in the top part of the gamelist. Ase doesn't ping the servers from your own pc but from a pinger locate somewhere near you (most of the time) that's why the pings aren't exactly right. But usually they don't differ an afwul lot. You can however manually ping a server by going to start -> execute and typing ping ....ip.... (without the port number)
Cool, I did not know that. Thanks for the info! Yeah, I was wondering why the ping was 10x what it should be... ;)

Yeah, but I guess it also differs depending on what other specs you have. Someone with a P4 1.2 with 1024mb could run better than someone with P4 3.0 and 512mb.
I was supposedly supposed to bring in my computer for an upgrade, have no idea when that is. But I personally think that we should either pitch in money to GF to buy a server or ask GF to buy a server for FH.
I have a 2.8 ghz P4, a gig of RAM and a 9700 Pro but I get a lot of slowdown on Prokhorovka or any large city maps. It gets down to 20 FPS, I'm used to 80+ :/
errr, i guess your mobo is giving you a slowdown, what FSB are you running your proccessor at? and does your mobo support AGP 8X. mabye it doesnt support the ram type eg - you have DDR400 but it only supports DDR333
USMA2010hell, ive got 512 and experience minor lag on only a few maps, and none most other places. But like most of us, I get horrendous lag on that eastern front map with German paratroopers, I think its Orel.
To find servers I dont even use ASE. I just use the filters in game, they show the major mods, DC, EOD, and, of course FH.
Its not lag. Its FPS drop. There is a distinct and important difference. Lag is packet loss and latency , FPS drop/lockups are caused by either to many objects on screen or badly programmed objects with to many polygons. What people experiance there in Orel is FPS drop, not lag. Lag is due to connection problems.
You can experiment with this as if you move outside the polygon decay area your FPS will improve as the objects/polygons decrease. Simply means you need a better video card, more ram or the map needs less or better programmed objects.
Yeah thats my problem shitty Video Card and onlt 512Mb Ram. If I go anywhere near that town on Porkovovka I get like 6 Fps, Infact I have never ever set foot in the city only flown over there a few times, another lag spot for me is the town in Breakthrough which is where the axis tanks all hide and rocketing them with 10fps isn't easy. But this will all be sorted when I get paid and I get a sweet new card and some more ram.
if u are laging lower your res and lower sound quality its u not the mod
my motherboard supports AGP 8x and my processor runs at 800mhz FSB. karelia is a lag fest for me too, especially when the katuyasha is firing like crazy. oh well I'm probably gonna get an X800 XT this summer anyways.
