Hmm, here is a question for you...

Is my uberold VAIO with a TNT2 capable of running FH. The rest is fine (1.6GHz P4, 512MB SDRAM...) but that old vidcard I doubt can run Battlefield in general.

The TNT2 is ancient technology, as it doesn't even have hardware Transform & Lighting; something BF42 requires.

Count NosferatuThis is an acceptable config for FH, bare acceptable minimum. People with less than this really should upgrade to this level to be able to play a proper game...

no way. i can run FH on 1024x768 @ 32bit on medium settings with a reasonable fps no, a TNT2 can not run bf42. when i 1st got bf42 at its release i had a TNT2. all the colors were blue & black and i couldnt see most of the objects (ie trees, buildings, vehicles)...makes the game VERY hard to play. thus i got my geforce4mx440 and now its sweet

Kind of a joke, huh? My parents purchased the computer two years ago for gaming use, and they totally failed to conuslt me. So, instead of getting a GeForce II or III, they get a Rivia TNT2, technology outdated at the time! I'll get motherboard information and post it. If someone could help me finally find a replacement, I will give them a brownie. And not the magic kind. Ok, now I can't find where I can find out what the motherboard is. DXDiag isn't listing it. But maybe if the Mx440 works for you it will work for me as well. Best of all, they're cheap these days. How difficult is it to install a new graphics processor? Could I do it myself or do I need professional assistance.

FH pushes the BF engine to its limits, beyond it some cases so to run it well you need a damm good system. 1gb of ram is needed for acceptable loading times. 512mb will do but expect long loading times. Anything less than 512 and you would endure massive loading times and poor performance. A good CPU is always handy, 2.0 ghz+ or AMD 2400+ is good , AMD 64's and Pentium 4's would be better. An average card, GF4ti or ATI 9600 will run it on high but with no AA or AF on and it will probobly slow down on some of the more complex maps. To run all the maps well and with full AA and AF I would seriously say you are gonna need something like an X800 or 6800 to get good frame rates on all the maps. A dedicated soundcard is always good as the BF engine is awful when it comes to sound. This is my config of a PC capable of running FH with graphics up to max with a large amount of AA and AF, with a very good fps on all maps, fast loading times and overall very good performance: AMD 64 3000+ or Pentium 3.0ghz ATI X800pro or Nvidia 6800gt 1gb 400mhz ram Audigy 2 ZS This is my config of a PC capable of running FH with graphics up to max with light AA and AF, with a good fps on all maps, fast loading times and overall good performance: AMD 2600+ or Pentium 2.4ghz ATI 9800pro or Geforce 5900 1gb 400mhz ram Audigy 2 ZS This is my config of a PC capable of running FH with graphics up to max with no AA and AF, with a good fps on all maps, fast loading times and overall good performance. AMD 2600+ or Pentium 2.4ghz ATI 9600pro or Geforce 5600 1gb 400mhz ram Audigy 2 ZS This is my config of a PC capable of running FH with graphics up to medium with no AA and AF, with a average fps on all maps, slow-ish loading times and overall average to good performance. AMD 2000+ or Pentium 2.0ghz ATI 9200 or Geforce 5200 768 mb 400mhz ram onboard sound This is my config of a PC capable of running FH with graphics on low with no AA and AF, with a average to low fps on all maps, long loading times and overall average performance. AMD 1400 or Pentium 1.2ghz ATI 7000 or Geforce 3 512 mb 133mhz ram onboard sound This is my config of a PC capable of running FH with graphics on low with no AA and AF, with low fps on all maps, very long loading times and overall poor performance. AMD 1200+ or Pentium 800mhz ATI 7800 or Geforce 2 256 mb 133mhz ram onboard sound If you go below 256mb ram you will get loading times of up to like 8 mins which takes the piss and anything lower than a Geforce 2 you will have serious FPS problems even on 800 x 600 with everything set to low and no special effects. I'm sure people will say some of the stuff I posted is wrong but its a rough guide ;)

I would fit in around about here. I have the following:

AMD 2600+ ATI 9800Pro 1GB Ram Audigy 2

While it's not the fastest around, I think it does well running FH. I'm usually between 8 - 16 on map loads so I'm not the one of the first, or the last. I can play with all high settings and at 1600x1200 which is good enough for me. If I add AA or AF I will experience a drop in performance and frames per second.

Good little guide there Maniac, good job. I wouldnt recommend a brand new £1000 PC just to play BF1942 and FH, however I would recommend around 700Mb - 1GB of decent Ram. Prices for Ram now are very low, at only £50 for a good 512Mb Ram stick, so well worth it.

Ooh, and MG, you hardly ever post any more. What's up?

Too many n00bs on the forums :( The good old days where coolguy, Reaperman and RobZombie would give n00bs a good pasting is over :( and now they run amock. Also the amount of 'cool' and interesting people also has taken a massive drop a massive drop so I just hang out on my clan forums. Also until I get my new PC in march (AMD 64 3000+, X800 Pro and 1 gb ram) FH does not run all that good and only having 512mb ram is a pain in the ass so I stick to Prince of Persia Warrior Within:cool:

You forgot KillorLive, ah he used to give me a good pasting on a daily basis. I really miss that.

Well, I have a bit of free time before my exams and all that boring stuff starts again, so what better a time to hang out on the Forgotten Hope forums all day.

:D

gekkie_26Hi there, After seeing some screenshots wich I consider very cool I really want to play this mod. Only I dont know if my PC will be good enough for it. I have this machine: Amd 1200 mhz 328 mb sd ram memory radeon 9700 pro

I have Athlon 1400, 512 megs of memory and it plays like an angels. Why? I also have Radeon 9600XT and a good sound card. I also have reasonable graphics settings and low sound settings. Sound matters a lot. LaDigue
