What matters most is a) the graph card (you need a good one for Anti-Aliasing) and b) memory (for decent loadtimes). The CPU does not make much of a difference. I get good performance even with a mere Athlon 1400. I have a good graph card though but would need more memory for better load times. Sound card is also an issue...a really old crappy one will just kill your FPS rate. As will 44 KHz sound settings. LaDigue

septic deathOne other thing i forgot. Your sound card has a BIG impact on the FPS.

True...back some time ago I got a Radeon 9600XT instead of this old piece of shit GeForce2. What happened? Frame rates were in fact slightly worse. Got pissed and bought a top-of-the-line sound card. Result? Dramatically improved FPS rate. I'd say a) graph card b) memory and c) sound card matter a lot, whereas CPU does not. LaDigue

well since the release of .66 im out of the loop i have: 1gig cpu 384megs ram 64meg nividia 440 im so lagged i can only play at 50% viewdistance on big maps with absolute minimum everything. as tweaked as it can be tweaked! to be honest it bugs me that the game is being made unplayable for my size comp, when originally it was not. i know, those that have new comps dont care. they are the ones that say offhand "oh buy a new comp dude or up your ram" well if i had a new comp i would be off playing HL2 not trying to play my 3yr old game. this game was made to play on a certain specification of computer, which my comp use to meet. but now doesnt! this isnt fair really, i bought my game same as everyone else. and should be able to play it forever. without it being changed beyond my comps ability to play it. certainly doesnt make me want to buy bf2 when i DO get a new comp.... someone may change it on me, and ill have to shelve it too.... like bf1

if u need a new gfx card, i highly recommend a nvidia 6600GT. great price, great preformance. if u cant make that price though, an ATI 9600XT would also be good btw real badseed, sux eh, im in the same boat as u (although not quite so bad).

remember that a video card & ram is the most important. u want no more or less than 1gb of ram, and no less than a ATI 9600XT (~FX 5700?). CPU isnt so important, but do not get a celeron or a semperon.

"This is my config of a PC capable of running FH with graphics up to max with light AA and AF, with a good fps on all maps, fast loading times and overall good performance:

AMD 2600+ or Pentium 2.4ghz ATI 9800pro or Geforce 5900 1gb 400mhz ram Audigy 2 ZS"

Well, my pc would kinda fit in this group. AMD 1800+ ATI 9800pro 128mb 768MB ram pc2100 SB Live 5.1 Does it make any difference if you play online or on a 40-50 player botserver?(Not dedicated) oh Hydraslav, it's a 64mb ti500 ;) wish it was 256mb though.

My PC performs very well AMD 2400+ (it is actually overclocked 1700+) 1gb of 400mhz ram Geforce Ti 4200 64mb vram (oced too) Nvidia soundstorm (with h/a enabled) FH runs smooth on 1024x768 with high video and sound settings, I can go higher with resolution or add a little AA but then the fonts are blurred, anyone have solution to this? I heared it happens to some nvidia cards
