OK, here's the question, based on the thread on planes based on the other thread:D: Should tanks be made to return "home" for repairs and re-arming? Should ammo crates benefit them? Do you want the magic wrench to remain in Forgotten Hope 2?
My take:
• Away with the damned wrench, except when it comes to repairing tracks or other kinds of eventual minor damage.
 • Out with little ammo crates re-arming tanks. I want to feel useful in my re-supply truck:smokin:.
 • Repairs can be done by truck as well as by repair station thingies like those in Battlefield 1942, but they take time. Maybe, just maybe, there could be larger crates with armour plating, spare parts, ammunition, and so on for tanks, but they'd have to be rare and made in such a way that camping was not a good idea.
 • Have the gun barrel smoke after firing, like in Silent Heroes:smokin:.

i think it should depend on the tank. heavy tanks should be required to return to the base for repairs. however, light and medium tanks should be able to be repaired in the field by engineer trucks that have a proximity repair.

I agree with mostly everything you just said. I have a few point to add maybe :

There should be a kind of resupply/repair base, located in the main base or other important "base" like flags that can be captured. It might be like a hanger were a tank standing nearby can get ammo and a tank that enters it can get repair (from there, it shouldn't be able to shoot, THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT!). I doubt trucks should repair, specialized service tanks (whose german identification names I have forgotten, but have the base of panzers, you know what I mean) should be able to repair. Trucks however could give ammo maybe.

The wrench should completely disappear.

Safe Keeper, +1 for you. You've basically re-worded a suggestion post I did a while ago. Very good points.

I love it, every suggestion you made.

Maybe the small crates could reload MG bullets (but you dont run out of those too often) and like you said have larger ammo dumps at a few key flags to rearm the tank shells. I am not aginst having some sort of supply vehicle repair tanks if an engineer is in it to keep tanks repaired in the field but certinaly away with the wrench.

Damn.

Well, put the ammo crates inside buildings or something so the tanks can't reach them, and have the big crates supply both tank and infantry armour.

Better idea: instead of ammo crates, have trucks & other supply vehicles, get this, distribute _kits_. That's right; antitank, infantry, whatever. Deploy kits like you currently deploy ammo crates, go to an ammo "dump" at mainbase to reload the truck with kits.

When you're out of grenades or bullets or whatever, you just pick up a whole new set of equipment.

Slightly off-topic, but I like the idea:). Trucks already carrying ammo crates could deploy kits, too.

Thanks:) (think you did something wrong if you mean +1 rep, though, as I didn't get any:o)! calvin_hobbes.jpg
