I dont know if you are being sarcastic here D-Fens but i would actually drive the thing!
ChickenonastickWrench combat sounds great! One click of the mouse is the standard use, opposite click you swing it melee style. Imagine seeing in a server.. BUGS [Wrench] Anlushac11 pwned!
:0wned: Anlushac11!! Unlucky! It'll be the new n00bstick.

I can see that it could look that way, but actually I wasn't sarcastic.
I would love to see repair vehicles in FH2, but they should repair really slowly and only repair lighter damage. returning to a repair pad should be required for major repairs. this on maps with main bases mind you! on maps without main bases (and no repair pads), then major repairs shouldnt be possible at all. this would make sure tanks arent invincible ingame when parked next to a repair-vehicle. the wrench should repair light vehicles only, and again really slowly.
i thinks trying to add a code that allows towing-vehicles-to-repair locations will over-complicate things, so driving back to a rear base for major repairs is good enough. perhaps a repair vehicle could do enough repairs, to make a tank drivable back to a rear base, if its disabled completely and needs major repairs at a repair pad. i think all repairing should be really really slow and respawning of vehicles even slower! if they respawn at all. i see way to many people just blow stuff up because its faster to just wait for the thing to respawn. also wrench combat ftw!
I didn't make it!
I think the idea of not being able to repair tanks is a very good one, and adds realism. Right after that, I think we should either make you unable to spawn once you die, or perhaps you get to respawn at the back base as a guy with a pistol who has to complete all sorts of training before he gets a kit and can walk back to the fight. That too also adds realism. All this talk about not repairing is nuts, and unbalances things compared to the quick turnaround time of infantry. Tanks would be useless.
Safe-Keeper's law strikes again (99% of the times something realistic is suggested, someone pulls it out of proportion with notes like "spawn as recruit going through training")!
I actually like the idea about the repair truck having limited supplies and having to be manned to repair something. The "repair gun" thing isn't such a bad idea either, as it'd keep the thing from being able to repair 10 things at once.

Aren't you excaggerating a little here? Tanks wouldn't be useless if you couldn't repair them. They'd be far less effective, for sure, but useless is much too strong a term.

Nup, they'd be used far more judiciously than they are now.
The only thing that would concern me about uber-valuable tanks is that it might encourage camping (some panzer whore gets a Tiger and _refuses_ to move, lest it get scratched, oh n0es). But then again, we already have this now..
i think that things should stay as they are now except that the wrench would be replaced with a truck. things you say look good in theory but i think having a tank to return to base for repairs would be no fun because noobs often take tanks, blow them up and wait for another. if tanks would spawn slowly this would mean no tanks at all. bah i don't make sense...
