then FH would just be like any other mod, and we wouldn't get that cool DVD-release. more maps = good, but remove maps that are no longer up to quality (dice maps! even if it won't decrease download size), and add all FH-maps that has been taken out to a "vintage" mappack.

KahjuHow abou capping the map total # to 20 or so? Make a public vote where people can vote 3 or 5 of their fav maps and see which 20 maps get the most votes and keep those only, eh?

We done that as well. Capped it at 15, every third is a custom. Since we the admins are on everynight, we can change the map list according to popularity. We have offered, and continue to offer our public TS channel to everybody here. We decided to stick to the smaller maps to keep the fighting intense, and fast paced. We upgraded our server at the end of February so you can see what it is like to play FH lag free. I read every post, every suggestion and tried everything that has been asked for here, but still get little support in return. The FH community is a hard nut to crack, I think I may have an easier time selling coolers in the arctic:uhm:

Crazy canuck; i have tried your server and generally i get around ~100ms ping, so i try to stay on either Deadmeat or OTH where i'm at <~100 ping; because its really annoying to get owned by some "stand in out in the open in broad daylight " n00b when i shoot him and he doesn't die from a dead-on k98/n0.4 to the chest, and yet because of net lag his 50 machingun rounds sprayed all to hell get me. :( If i could get around the 30~60 ping i get on Deadmeat, on your server i would play it. Numbers on the server mean nothing to me, latency does. Here in the states however, it seems the majority of servers are oversea's that play FH, so i am limited by the latency for a good game to just a couple of servers. It really sucks, because i've only had a chance to play a few of the new maps in teh mappack-so far my opion is that Charters is striclty ok with <20 players-the tank should be nerfed for the allies and the flags should take at a minimum 2 players to cap or grey. Trois point sis basicly a rapefest for the axis; the allies can just hold them in the base at the first bridge chokepoint all night long. the Axis should be given the first flag by their base, that would create an interesting game. Havenot been on a server with Tulagi yet, no one wants to run it. As for the otheres, their ok, the Nuenan is really fun, and so is the Road one. I just wish more servers would host the new Foy. The only 2 times i played it, the allies got reamed, but they were great games.

If you set the connection bandwidth for the server too high, people with a low bandwidth connection will encounter lags. To ensure good gameplay even for a ISDN-connection we use

admin.maxAllowedConnectionType CTCable128Kbps

I LOVE BURMA! It's Japanese against British, that's unusual, I like unusual stuff. :D I also like Ortona, finally a new map with Canada.

I don't get time to play much but Trois Ponts was fun. It's nice when everyone doesn't know the map like the back of their hand. Ultimately I think more maps are good. Allows the server to pick their style. Are there Map packs 1 & 2?

Flippy Warbear Sure it feels weird to have british and japanese fighting each other

Why does it feel weird? They fought them often, (Singapore, Burma, Malaya)

And how many of those are actually in FH? Yes, Burma. So yes, it does feel weird as their new types of maps.

Chartres - Fun Infantry map and I love infantry maps as thats my favorite role in the game. Intense combat(smaller maps usually result in that which is why I like them) Ortona - I had one of the BEST GAMES I'VE EVER HAD IN FH on this map. It was about a week ago and I was axis and there was intense fighting for that bottom right spawn closest to the Canadian uncappable base. The island with the church spawn is another hotspot with intense fighting. I've read elsewhere on other threads about people wanting Italian maps in FH and so I'm sure this map is welcome by plenty of people. Neunen(sp?) - I've played this map a couple times and liked it every time. I guess I'm not good with the "this map is good for 'this reason' and 'that reason' arguments". I just know when I have fun playing a map. Trois Ponts - Ugh! I do not have fun playing this one. Yeah the Germans do get STOPPED at that first crossroads/bridge for the LOOOOONGEEEEST time. Maybe, like was suggested earlier, give germans another one of the flags in addition to their main at the beginning of game. I think this would only improve it. Burma - I appreciate the work of all the map makers who do these maps for love of the game. But this one is another of my least favorites. I just don't feel like I'm in Burma. There needs to be MUCH more vegetation. Road to Ramelle - I've only played this one a couple times and without very many people each time. I get the distinct impression it would be awesome on a full server with 30 to 40 people. Seems like good combination of city and open areas of combat. Enemy vehicles being locked was an interesting new feature that I noticed on this map. I think Neunen had that too. Tulagi Island - OMFG this map is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember reading all kinds of complaints on this forum with the version 3 of the map pack about Lag in this one. But I just played it in the version 4 tonight. From what I understand the vegetation was reduced somewhat and some other settings were tweaked toward the end of getting it to perform better. I didn't notice any lag on Tulagi. I did however notice that from a graphics standpoint this map should SET THE STANDARD FOR FUTURE PACIFIC MAPS FOR THIS MOD. Hats off to you Real-Badseed:bows: I haven't played Tulagi Island enough times to see if it has any unfortunate tendencies in playability or not. But the map seems to have decent enough spacing between the flags and a good layout overall. There were only about 4-5 guys per team on the server I was playing the map on and quite frankly I was spending a lot of my time walking around just LOOKING at the map.(And I'm the sort of guy who frequently leaves a server when a "pacific map" is coming up next - BUT NOT WITH THIS ONE!) Overall - Ortona and Tulagi Island are definitely my FAVORITES of the fan map pack maps. Followed by Chartres, Neunen and Ramelle. Ortona is nice break from all the western front US vs. german maps that take place in France. And I would love to see more FH servers run Tulagi Island in place of pacific maps like Battle Isle, midway, saipan. I find I usually have to get on a european server to play these maps on a populated server. Most USA FH servers don't seem to run them. I wish the big US ones like WOlfgaming and deadmeat would make at least the best 2 or 3 of these map pack maps part of their REGULAR rotations[oh yeah and mustn't forget 9th inf:)]. I love many of the maps that the FH devs themselves came up with but I can only play charlie sector, nordwind, goodwood, arnhem and a few others so many times in a row before they start getting old. Overall: Thanks to the fans of FH who have made these maps. Way to go! Professor Anthrax (Kill you soon - but don't take it personally)
