Is anyone here into 3d modelling? I started playing around with Max 3ds last week and I found out that 3d moddeling is fun :D (but hard! Lets say that I look at the 3d models in all games on a whole different way now  ). Post models you've done/currently working on, you could also mention what program you're using.

I've only done various tutorials, like this ├╝ber crappy Winchester:

attachment.php?attachmentid=36350&stc=1

The textures sucks some serious ass and the reloading thingy is kinda flat (I know what I made wrong, so I could make it better if I tried again). Ironsights are for wimps. I think I'll try to add it to OFP just for fun ;).

What I want to do is a Combat boat 90H (used by Swedish and Norwegian marines). It looks like this in real:

stridsb_t_90h_sn%F6-liten.jpghttp://www.defense-update.com/products/c/CB90.htm

I've started to tinker on the hull but I've encountered a problem: Does anyone know how to make the front part of a boat? I just can't figure out how to do it! :o

This is how far I've come: attachment.php?attachmentid=36351&stc=1attachment.php?attachmentid=36352&stc=1

The wood texture on that Winchester is awful... :p This is the model I'm working on right now. Skinning it little by little each day when I'm not busy. attachment.php?attachmentid=36355&stc=1 This is the only player model I've tried doing so far. I never did skin it, really... I'll need to do that after I finish the Soul Edge. attachment.php?attachmentid=36356&stc=1 My pride and joy. A weapons pack for Jedi Academy, based on SWG weapons. Some of my best model skins to date, in my opinion. attachment.php?attachmentid=36357&stc=1 My first released models. I suppose they're not too bad, for being firsts. attachment.php?attachmentid=36358&stc=1 I did all of this with 3DS Max 7 and Photoshop Elements. Elements is a pain, but I haven't gotten used to working with GIMPshop yet...

Coincidentally, I've spent the bigger part of today looking for: 1 - Architecture modelling in 3d studio max 7 and 2 - realistic character modelling in 3d studio max 7.

If anyone can help me find (good, for beginners) tutorials on this, it would be very much appreciated. :)

http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=193637 I've compiled a pretty good list for my JK3 buddies. Some of them are helpful for general modding.

UV unwrapping really isn't too difficult, unless your model is really complicated. I usually rely on the skin to show texture on my model rather than modelling it on there (as Jedi Academy, which I model for, has a relatively low max poly count) so my models are usually relatively simple to map. Takes some getting-to-know-3DSMax, though. There's a good UVW Mapping tutorial in that list I gave lightning which I used to learn.

Anyone knows where I can find a boat tutorial? I really need to know how to make that darn front.
