While I was working on one this question ingited. Do you usually approve with the things your "client" wants on a signature? Have you ever tought "Oh great god the colors will look awfull" and made it anyway? I just filled in a signature request where someone asked me to cut out a flaming red picture right into a green venom-ish background. The color clashing burned my eyes, but he was very happy.
Oh, of course i do. If the request is beyond my ability, i will either not do it, or message someone who can. Also, I don't do Hentai, political, or religious signatures.
Sometimes, i'll make it somewhat like what they want it, and say "oh, sorry, but i think it looks better this way."
I do a bit of both. I'll stick to the general idea of what a sig request asks for, but part of making graphics is adding your own touches. We're not just mass producing these things, each sig/avatar is "hand-made", and so contains a little bit of our imagination.
I think most people know what they want, but not rlly.. you know what I mean? They know what they want on a signature but they don't know if it'll look good. I'd just make it sweet looking and make it there way just in case and post both of them.

well most sig creators dont let people tell them wat to do so u might not like it...i hate it when people ask for blood and animation cause i think its a beginner type of sig...i want to give them something with alot of quality...not just brush after brush after brush...like my sig that im going to change...i dont mind making sigs for people and thats the truth...
...i think the mods should let the people get the sigs they want even if they are breaking the rules...u can add me to MSN if u want to talk to me about sigs...or lessons...im usually free...:D

If we did, then we wouldn't be moderators for long. It's like saying that cops should let everybody do as they pleased. Not gonna happen.
Not yet have I experienced something like this, but compared to the longer standing members I've definitely fulfilled less requests. On a side-note, however, forum activity for sigs has gone down drastically. I'm glad we don't get the 'lolzorz ken i hav teh 1137 sig w. splintre cel' requests anymore, but it is noticeably less active in this forum, and has been for a while...

That's because you lot ruined it, what with your 5 pages of rules, ridiculous forms, and tendency to lock threads for the slightest things - I.E, if their request isn't in your "form", but makes perfect sense anyway; or if your worried they'll use it on another forum and not give you "proper credit". Which is funny, because sites actually exist where people can get sigs for free; without near as much hassle, and without the designers being anal retentive about people knowing they created it.

We actually still do make them if it's in a somewhat close form to the format, if not the format itself. If you want to know why we adhere to it so much, look back to why it was created. It not only clarifies what the person wants and makes our job easier (Trust me, you want that format over "I want a sig with the master chief blowing up a tank"), but makes it a little harder for people to steal sigs and graphics (kind of), since everything is more organized and "regulated". And yes, we are worried about people stealing our work, it's insulting to have your work stolen.
It takes maybe an extra minute of your time, and gets you the product you want, faster, and of higher quality.

You don't even know what you're talking about, and you couldn't be more wrong. Shhh
I love how you ramble about people stealing your work; "OMG! I spent 4 seconds putting numbers into a formula in Apophysis and someone stole my sig. I worked so hard on that!" How do you even "steal" a sig? It's not even like you're actually putting effort into them; considering you lot rarely ever do one that's not clearly layed out for you(I.E. your "form"), leaving little up to your own creativity. What does it matter if some kid said he made it, in a forum you'll never see? Get over yourselves, jesus.
I stopped making sigs 6 months ago when you lot decided to turn this board into one huge power-trip. I know what I'm talking about; this place sucks in 5 languages - and you don't even know about it because you're too busy worrying yourself with putting watermarks of your name in all your "creations". That's actually quite funny. I've been studying for finals all day, and your post gave me the only real laugh I've had all day, so thank you.
