I have GIMP and when I try to copy and paste a picture it doesn't do it, it goes black, instead of a picture on the drawing. What am I doing wrong???
I can't find any info. What version of the Gimp are you using? Version 2.2.8 is the latest. (2.3.1, and 2.3.2 are development releases, and are probably glitchy.)
More importantly, what method are you using to copy, and paste? A selection tool, the edit menu, or Ctrl-X and Ctrl-C?
Windows, Linux, or Mac version? Most likely windows so well like Monster_user said what version? Doing Ctrl+V or Edit paste. Are you sure your copying the thing? Did you try posting it in paint to see if you did copy it? Unstalled Gimp reinstalled it?
I'm using Windows XP pro, I am copy and pasting it by selecting and copying the picture in Paint, then going to file > import (I think it was import) > paste from clipboard. The version of gimp that I am using is Gimp 2
It will probably be the Paint exporting tool. Just select the image, press Ctrl+C, and go to Gimp, and press Ctrl+V when you're ready to paste.
Ctrl+V doesn't work, which is why I have been trying to do it the way I have
Select the photo edit copy go to gimp edit paste.
I think your question would be better answered in the Graphics Department. If you had a reason for it being in the tech discussion, tell me :) Moved from Tech.
AgentlaidlawSelect the photo edit copy go to gimp edit paste.
That doesn't work.
hmm im not sure what may be happening, just make sure when your pasting it its not on a layer below a solid color or image because it only shows the highest layer so that may be black and its blocking it out.
When you paste it the opacity of the image pasted could be 0% You may want to try edit/paste as new or edit/paste into if ctrl + v isnt working try shift + ctrl + v that is the buttons fo paste into try saving the image in paint then opening the saved file in gimp and copy and paste from there thats the only things i could think of you may want to redownload and reinstall it.
