I have used this effect in my last few sigs, so I thought I'd post a tut for it, for anyone interested how to try this effect. This tutorial will show you how to create the box effect shown in the below sig. 1. Choose a render with a nice balance of color, in this case I’ll be using a pic of Rooney, and paste it onto a new layer. Name the layer ‘Original’ beginningpic9qk.jpg

2.Next duplicate the layer. On the copied layer, select Filter/Pixellate/Mosaic, and use the settings shown below.

3. Next, select filter/other/maximum, and set the radius to the same amount that you used in the mosaic filter.

4. Set the duplicated layer’s blend mode to ‘Lighten’. Your image should now look something like this:

picsofar9eb.jpg5. Now, copy the layer you have applied the ‘Maximum’ filter to, and set the new copied layer’s blend mode to ‘Multiply’. After that, go to Filter/Stylise/Find Edges. 6. To change the size, and lightness of the boxes, go to ‘Image > Adjustments > Brightness/contrast, set the contrast to around 90, and change the brightness to vary the line thickness and transparency. brightnesscontrast8tj.jpg

7. Lastly, change the middle layer (first duplicate of original), and change its blend mode from ‘Lighten’ to ‘Soft Light’. finalresult1sq.jpg

And you're done! Below is the final result of the effect implemented into a sig I made for Master Of Reality: rooneymorsig6xr.gif

Oh cool! I knew the effect; but those few extras, e.g. the 'maximum' effect are cool.

A psychedelic experience.
