I want a good alternative to photoshop CS as I am not willing to go illegal and download it, and I couldnt possibly afford to buy it. So is PSP worth the amount of money it costs? Any other programs that are good enough to handle what PS CS does? Thanks for the help!

Before i started using PhotoShop, I used PSP and I swore by it. Sometimes I still use it, to do some stuff I still can't get the hang of in PS.

If you just want to make sigs and stuff like that, not animated, get Photoshop Elements instead.

I use Paint Shop Pro 9 and I love it (couldn't shell out a grand for Photo Shop CS  ). I like it a lot, it didn't cost me too much either (for a graphics program) just about $100 (can't remember exactly how much . . . that isn't one of the things I keep in my mind . . . . )

No. Elements also doesn't handle alpha channels, vectors, third-party plugins or most advanced features.

if it doesn't handle alpha channels I don't think you could use it for texturing for a game if you need to do that

GAH! I guess I could get the student edition which is only like $100 cheaper...but I really want to get CS, right now I have a trial and its running out fast.

Well thanks for the info, I like photoshop over the gimp and any other program because of its quality build, I guess I need to find a way to get it legally.
