I have a couple of questions about Quicktime before i get it, if you don't mind helping me... First off, i was wondering...at the site, they have one that has Quicktime (supposedly) and iTunes. Now, i don't want iTunes, i don't have an iPod, and therefore, no reason to have it. But I'm wondering where the newest version of "only" Quicktime is? Second, i've seen the tutorials on how to get the video into a .gif...so don't worry about that. Anyway, i was wondering if i could open a movie and do the same in another program, Windows Media player, Real player, etc. ? And last...is Quicktime pretty much useless besides using it for stealing videos into .gif's ?
No! I'm Spamacus!

Quicktime is a great mp3 player. I use it because of it's small and unobtrusive interface. I am using 6.5.2 which doesn't have i-Tunes...
can't you use .avi for gifs in photoshop? That's all I use in Paint Shop :nodding:
But yeh, Quicktime's worth having, especially when you encounter things that need .mov to view etc., I find it a MUCH more reliable video player than Windows Media Player (you'll RARELY hear me say Apple is superior in any way, and it pains me to do so even now :( )
I use MusicMatch Jukebox for my music, I find it even less obtrusive and nicer to me :nodding:
But as for the itunes . . . I have no idea, quicktime was already on my crappy comp :(
hmm...just did some research on my own... Pretty much it says it is good, but that it becomes your default movie application. Now, i don't hate Quicktime, but i have found it to run worse then Media player on most occasions. :uhm:
you don't have to tell it to, and I think next time you start Media player it should say something to the effect of "I'm no longer your favorite  I thought you loved me" and usually you can reset it at that point (video players tend to realize when they aren't dominant any more). If not many websites like atomfilms allow you to make selections as to your video choice, and you can always use "Open with" with things on your comp. And there's always a way to change your dominant player (but it SHOULD ask you before you install what you want it to be the dominant player for :uhm: )
And none of mine are dominant, Windows opens its things, Quicktime its things, RealOne its things, and DivX its things, tho I would assume Windows has superiority if I get something that can open on any of them :clueless:

:p That was amusing...lol  Anyway, yeah..i think i will get it anyway, if it screws up my computer, there is always formatting again. :p Thanks.

Best thing about quicktime is you can easily copy stills ;). The only reason I really use WMP is because of the playlist and the fact that it automatically pops up :uhm:
I've never used WMP. I did back when it was just a nasty looking window, but not the one with the fancy GUI.
