im looking for some one to help me with a skining project im doing. what im trying to do is skin of a circular raised metal texture and then have a red glow like effect in the middle i would love for any help i can get

Not sure if GIMP can use layers, but if so make three layers: your base, the raised portion 'under' the glow, and then the circular raised metal even further. Put a small white stroke between the circular raised metal layer and the other raised portion, put a glow filter on that. I would include screenshots, but I use Photoshop and I have no clue how it compares.

What game is that for? Glowing in games is usually achieved with shaders.

luckily gimp use layers thank god or else i would have messed up so many times by now ok heres what i got 21083224cx9.th.jpg I'm trying to create something like this threw skinning where the metal looks like it comes upward like in the pic. I've seen it done before but like a box boarder like thing ps2airblade51kl5.th.jpg now for the glow in the center yes to truly make it glow u need a shader but it also helps alout if it has a base glow and i think u need it. torsoarmsredglowdv0.th.jpg I would like to know how i would make a glow like that on my skin where the red glow defuses onto my cylinder hover thing with a white center and stuff

Like I said, in a game, glow is done with shaders. Done in the texture will not look good. But, if you really want to do it in the texture, make a round selection and fill it with white. Then, in a new layer, stroke the same selection using a color. That's gonna be your glow. Then, blur both layers a bit until you achieve the desired effect.
