After you finish making a signature (make sure you have finished), but maybe before you do the text and border, merge all the layers into one. Then, duplicate that layer. Select the uppermost layer, and go to filter>stylize>extrude. Then, use the following settings:

Type: Blocks Size: [COLOR=Red]# change this for the size (in pixels) you want the squares to be[/COLOR] Depth: 1, Random Solid front faces - make sure this it checked Mask incomplete blocks - you can leave this out.

Then, when this is done, go to filter>sharpen>sharpen, and repeat it twice more. Then, set the top layer to overlay and voila!

You can sort out brightness and contrast afterwards if it looks too dark or light.

Don't merge them incase you ever forget to save or something and can't go back. So use Ctrl + A, Edit > Copy Merged.
