I like the backgrounds.. But you could do so much more with the render. They stand out, in a bad way. They look very much 'just pasted'.

Well, as I'm still pretty much exploring PS, I'd first like to see what does what and learn some cool effects. After that, I'll do what I like best. And using a tutorial doesn't mean your signatures aren't original, right, as you always add something of your own.

Well the trick to using tutorials is to just use is as a basic layout, and then change things so it suits what you want. If I follow a tutorial I usually just get the basic idea from it, then play around with everything till I get the sig I want.

Nice sigs, Tyrane, especially the last one.

Yes, but often if you don't even look at tutorials, you can still figure things out, sometimes better than had you looked, and you learn so much more that way. 'tis just tinkering with the program yourself instead of using other people's random tinkering.

yeah, I try to explore different styles. I'm also quite new to Photoshop.
