There will be a Xbox and PS2 Americas Army game (dont know if it will be freeware tho, but problibly) comming out suspected in the summer of 2005 (this year). It will be very much different from the PC game, but they probibly might include maps from the PC version. It's called "Americas Army: Rise of a Soldier". It will have a "story" mode where you go through training and virtual missions. During story mode, you will generate your charictar, and you will choose your paths from a Grenader, to Sniper, or if you feel like it going all the way up to SF Captian. What you do in the story mode will reflect how well (if you choose to that is) play online, and what you charicter looks like, ect. Online mode will have support for up to 16 players, and pretty much doing similar, if not the same levels in the current PC version of AA. Ive gotten all of this at www.americasarmy.com under the news section. Hurry up and click the links before its out of the news section and gone.... if its not there ne more you could try searching the UbiSoft website (the developers for this future game).

wildboy, there will still be an AA for windows/linux/mac. they're adding consoles, not replacing windows/linux/mac with them.

and no, there will not be other countries or armies. this is a game developed by the US Government...

In my opinion the only thing really going for the console version is that it will have a single player portion (Is that correct?).

Ubisoft released four screenshots of their upcoming console version of America's Army which will ship for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 this summer and contains the following features:

  • Unique Career Mode: Unparalleled character customization allows you to create a soldier and take him throughout his career – from recruit to Special Forces team leader.
  • Exclusive U.S. Army License: Real Special Forces operatives are consulting with game designers to ensure the highest level of realism in any military console game in existence. Authentic weapons, equipment, and combat situations come straight from the U.S. Army subject matter experts.
  • Play it your way: America's Army has no linear campaign design; players can choose their own career paths. You can focus on certain army roles (marksman or grenadier for example), or experience different roles in your goal to achieve Special Forces qualification.
  • Intense military action: Quick reflexes, strategic planning and the use of teamwork are mandatory to succeed in army missions, which plunge you into ultra-realistic combat scenarios.
  • Multiplayer: America's Army will offer a top-notch multiplayer experience with up to 16 players online as well as split-screen cooperative play mode. Career mode will also be brought to online play, allowing players to create and build online characters.
