OK, so I don't get out much.
From some years ago I enjoyed Riven very much, but after it was bought up by whatever bunch of ijits, the third in the series completely sucked. Can anyone advise what the best releases are out there along the same lines as Riven, as close to that kind of adventure play (and movement) as possible? I loved the attention they paid to the visual details.
As a note, the style of game as in DOOM makes me sick, very sick, so I simply can't play those type that you move the way they do!
Riven was an awesome game.
Have you played other games in the Myst series? Personally I haven't, but I think Riven is supposed to be a sequal to those games. Also, there are some excellent adventure games which are nothing like Riven but still awesome, and they are The Dig, the Discworld games (Discworld 1, 2 and Noir) and Zork Nemesis (and others in the Zork series).
I played Riven a lonngggg time ago. I played Myst too, beat that. But something about Riven creeped me out. I never actually finished the game. I was at the part with the houses and the people inside that didnt like me. I wasn't sure what do. Haven't played it since.
Get the submarine down and jump in, get to the switch tower, throw a few levers, get to the classroom (via sub), play the fishy game carefully... but yes, it is very creepy - that bugs me; but the worlds one walks through were so well done, so much better than Myst, I had hoped for a sequel, but some corporation turned artistic brilliance into homoginized crap. Amazing how a few people can be so amazing, but get many salaried people together and the only thing that comes forth is... well, I already aluded to it. They should have stuck to kiddy toys, the jerks. Anyway, I appreciate the suggestions so far and am looking into them; any others are highly appreciated!
I uhm.. don't know where the CDs went.. I am sure it's around somewhere in my endless stash of games and programs.. all legal of course.
Riddle of the Sphynx? Crystal Key 1 & 2?
