As an avid pc gamer, I would have to say a ps3. My pc is pretty top notch(dual core, 8800gts), but it is starting to struggle with some newer titles(Crysis, but it really nothing more than a tech demo). With a console, they can sell you an optimized game without the need for hardware upgrades. Just look at what they could still do with a ps2(God of War, Black). Right now there are more titles being made available for the ps3 than pc's. Plus you get the added bonus of a Blu-ray player. Those alone cost as much as a ps3. Use your pc for pc stuff, & play your games in 1080. Hell, as it stands, I will have to upgrade mid '08, & that will cost me 300-400 for a graphics card alone, I can get a ps3 or a 360 for less than that, & still have my kick ass(current )pc for photoshop, the web, & some gaming, music, wordprocessing, photos, and everything else.

Yeah, but he apparently already has a pc...& for the price of a pc that could remotely run Crysis on full settings, he could get BOTH a 360 & PS3. PLUS all you do is put the disc in & play on a console. No need to cross your fingers & hope it will play...I still can't get Gears of War on PC to play without crashing on singleplayer, & forget about online...I can't get Live to work at all. there are driver issues, compatibility issues, the need for market driven upgrades...If one already has a pc, get a console. really, all the good games are for consoles...& don't tell me "But, Crysis...." That engine will be used for consoles too. The gameplay isn't anything new. PS3-400usd, 360-300usd = 700-800 dollars for both, plus hd-dvd & bluray playing capabilities. High end PC -250 for decent cpu, 400-500 for high end graphics, 100-150 for decent psu, 300 for hi res lcd, 100-150 for memory, plus os, plus storage,& drives- over 1200 usd.

You can build a DX10 ready PC for just a little over the price of a PS3.A PC that could play about 95% of games available on PC with high graphics. There are of course going to be exceptions.I don't know why people presume that you need the absolute latest hardware to play any game on the PC. Of course Crysis is going to require a powerful PC to play it high settings, It's designed with future tech in mind. This isn't stopping anyone from enjoying all the other huge amounts of variety in games that the PC has to offer. Not all games require a super computer to play. But , if you can't afford a pricey upgrade for your PC then I would go with the 360 which is also fantastic. There are some great games available for it...just don't be surprised if the console messes up occasionally. The PS3 is probably of much better quality but I don't see it worth the price right now at all. Give it some time where the inevitable great games start being released for it and then it should be worth it.Unless you want to buy it and wait for a while.... though there have been a few good titles for it recently.

if you do go for a console 360 > ps3 as cheaper and lot better games (bluray not all it is hyped up to be and once you have brought a game your stuck with it ¬¬ so no trading in like you can with 360). all the good games on ps3 are also on 360 heard that mgs4 is coming to 360 year after ps3 due to some small print in the contract :D

Sovereign001;4057583pc is much better, ps3 is crap.

Biased are we?

This is my opinion. I have a top of the line gaming PC, but the PS3 is definitely not crap. In my opinion it is the better of the 3 current consoles. I had a 360, and liked it, but live is laggy as hell, my PS3 online, R:FOM in example, 40 players in a game, no lag, it's just like playing a PC game online. Then there is the price difference, an amazing PC? $1600-$2500 USD. PS3: $400USD. Then there is the amazing selection of titles coming to the PS3, MGS:4, Killzone 2, Uncharted....

EDIT: and no MGS:4 will not be coming out for the 360 for all you microsoft fanboys that think it will.

I can't fathom pay 400 dollars to play video games, to just give you the bare necessities required to do so.Yes, I paid 1200 for my computer(I can play any game at the highest settings except Crysis which I have to turn down a single notch), but I used it to write a paper, listen to music, play games, edit movies, edit images, design web pages MOD games(key thing here, PS3 games can't be modded, least not nearly as readily), go online, download various things, watch movies, talk to people, apply for college, and so on and so forth. For a few more bucks I could do away with a t.v. by just getting a tuner card.

So yeah, basically the PC can do anything the PS3 can do, and then some. Only reasons you should get PS3 is two things. The first is if you MUST have those PS3 exclusive titles, and the second is if for some ungodly reason you want a Blu Ray player, as it is the cheapest on the market. I mean really could they have just not made it Blu Ray and made it a hundred or so cheaper? They probaly would have sold so many more. I would have bought one.
