The Star Wars games I really miss are X-Wing and it's sequel Tie Fighter (from the early 90s). They're still the best space combat games ever made, imho. The game engine was extremely smooth, the campaign missions were well laid out, and it was just plain fun to play. They re-released them a couple years later on CD with enhanced graphics as well as full speech. They were awesome! I only wish I still had a slow enough pc to play these games. The slow down your pc apps never work well enough to make old games run right.

They have redone the games a couple of times since then. I thought X-Wing vs Tie Fighter (1997?) was a big disappointment. Too much emphasis on Multiplayer, which I wasn't interested in with this genre. X-Wing Alliance was better, but it's really dated now.

I would be nice if LucasArts would fashion a new version of the format the original games had with today's gaming technology. Even if it were based on the latest movie trilogy.

I have X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter somewhere, along with Balance of Power. Both had fun campaigns, and it was just enjoyable trying to work your way up to the rank of Ace Pilot (which I did).

lol, wow, you pretty much thought of some of the oldest games you could think of. My brother has it, i've played it a couple of times but when i played it, so many better games were out there already. Anyway, it was alright...but its no competition when its stracraft or X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter. :p

Yeah it's old, and none to good looking, but still fun. There aren't many Star Wars starfighter games to matcht that series except many Rebel Strike, or certain Rogue Squadron games.

ObliviousEven if it were based on the latest movie trilogy.

Noooo! >.< Sorry, I had a Darth Vader moment. Apparently what XvT lacked in single-player campaign, XwA made up for. However XwA lacked in the multiplayer area... it's a shame they didn't make a game that was strong in both realms. That would have rocked. I liked XvT, but I missed my barrel roll from XwA ;)

Wait, XwA? Balance of Power was a good expansion, it added a lot to SP, as well as MP. I've got them here somewhere...

Yeah, they are really old games, but I'm ancient as well. Did I mention they were DOS based and I played them on my 33 mHz 486 with 16mb ram and 4mb onboard video? :naughty:

And I can think of some older ones too. Like Castle Wolfenstien circa 1985. You used one joystick to move around, and a completely seperate joystick to point/shoot. I had it on cassette for my Atari 800. It took like 8-10 min to load!

btw - Nice sig -Ghost-. I can't wait for Oblivion. I loved Morrowind! Did you guys catch this E3 trailer for Elder Scrolls 4 yet?

We've got a thread just for Elder Scrolls if you want to talk about Oblivion. And yeah, I remember playing Wolfenstein 3D, and Doom, and LHX, and Superman for the Atari, so many games...

-Ghost-Wait, XwA?

X-wing Alliance...? I liked its single-player campaign. The ending kind of pissed me off, though...
