I want to hear your views on it? Whether its worth it or not; or whether I should wait for the price to die down or get one of those "package" deals when the other expansions come out.

I got it, I would call it ok at best. It doesn't have nearly as many options (which is sort of to be expected) as the game. You can't search the bodies and you can only carry a couple of weapons during the whole thing. It's basically just gunning and running with stealth if you feel like it, there's nothing else to do in it other than kill commies. And it's basically 3 mini missions within it. If you really like the atmosphere of it then get it but if you're not that into Fallout's universe don't waste your time.

I don't think I'll get this expansion pack and instead will wait for the one which raises the level cap to 30.

What I said in the Fallout 3 mods thread:

Mr. Matt;4792636Operation: Anchorage takes away Fallout 3's strongest features and saddles us with its worst flaws. Instead of a huge, open world full of decisions to make, people to meet and moral decisions to ponder, we are presented with a highly linear series of small maps with virtually no discourse with other characters at all. The quests, such as they are, lack the uniquely unpredictable nature of those in the main game, and are essentially the same kind of 'hunter/killer' dross we have been fed from second-rate RPGs for far too many years now. Unfortunately, when you take away that open world and all of the roleplaying elements that accompany it, all that remains is a hollow shell, comprised of an extremely poor shooter which is saved only by the presence of V.A.T.S. and some occasionally pretty set pieces. They have attempted to introduce squad-based action into the mix, but as your squad mates are hapless, suicidal lunatics who frequently desert you in the middle of combat and never return, this isn't sufficient compensation. I'm still glad I bought it though. My urge to collect achievements and have every single weapon and armour in the game is driving me to bankruptcy.

If you were enamoured with Fallout 3, loving every little detail, and you can't bear to go without every single official bit of content available, it's worth getting. The gauss gun alone is a worthwhile addition to the game even though I'm scared of using it in the world for fear of not being able to repair it, and the new T51b winterised power armour is nice. Perhaps alone this is not worth the full £7 or however much they're asking for it, but the campaign itself will last you two or three hours and is at least modestly entertaining.

So it would be more wise to wait til either the price drops lower or when they make some sort of package deal with all 3 expansions in one?

I did a conversion in currency, 7 euros is 13 dollars in my country. But according to xbox-live points and PC CD average prices here, it costs about 12-15 more dollars... Lucky you :(

Yeah, unless you are a die-hard fan of the fallout setting. I just thought it'd be neat but really it was just a linear map with commies.

£7

That's 7 pounds, not Euros. You'll have to redo your conversion math to get what it is in your country.

I'm a die-hard fan of the open-endedness not exactly the setting so, nawh.

And I re-did the conversion, and its 2 dollars more expensive, doesn't really comfort me either way...

P.S. What really made my brain's balls shrink is how the background music out in the open is sometimes, who am I kidding almost the same all the time. You know that sort of soothing yet life-leeching tune of the harp or something?

An older game, but give The Thing a try if you can find it, I liked it better than the movie.

Err, I think you misunderstood the title? We're talking about Fallout 3's Operation Anchorage
