I have been wondering for a long time if Doom 3 has better graphics or half-life 2. I cant decide which one. Doom 3's look more realistic but HL2's look very detailed. I just dont know which one. But what do u guys think?

i think HL2 with its massive scale graphics. doom3 is just some corridors and hallways with some light and monsters

Half Life 2 definently. Doom 3 has choppy graphics and too little polygon count. Its a good game but...really the shadows are the glasses over our eyes hiding what could really be done with D3. But I still love both games....(wait... isnt this the console forum? Half life 2 hasnt even come out for the Xbox... oh well.)

BF2's graphics aint that impressive.. The game's just awfully optimized, like all previous battlefield games.

I personally prefer the graphics in Half Life 2, with its wide large scale open spaces, realistic looking water, and great lighting effects. I find that Doom 3 engine wasn't really shown what it can really do in Doom 3 (strange thing to say). Enemy Territory Quake Wars is using the Doom 3 engine and is being developed by Splash Damage under the watchful eye of iD. From the trailer it looks nothing short of amazing. I think in terms of the scale of online multiplayer, this is probably going to be Battlefield 2's only competitor. Watch the trailer here and see what you think. The Doom 3 can do what HL2 can do, with vast open spaces, but it didn't have the chance in Doom 3 to show off what it could do. The characters in Doom 3 to tend have a plastic sort of look to them though, and it doesn't look like there is texture in the skin, its sort of shiny. Compare Alyx to someone in Doom 3 and you can see what I mean. By the looks of things in the ET Quake Wars trailer, the faces still have a plastic look to them but in a huge combined arms tactical online shooter thats a slight flaw, in what could be an awesome online gaming experience. I loved the original Enemy Territory, and I hope Splash Damage deliver the goods again :D Personally for now I'd go with Half Life 2, but ET Quake Wars could change my mind when it's released early next year.

I really really like Doom 3's graphics but I do find that they are way too shiny. Everything in the game seems to reflect to a large degree, even people. Half-Life 2 astounded me on release but now it doesn't seem to impress after seeing BF2's large-scale vehicular gameplay with what I think is better graphics. And Komrad.... it's no way as unoptimised as the other 2. I have a very standard rig; 9800 Pro, 1Gb Ram, 3.0GHz and I can run it all on max except for AA. Edit: I just looked at the vid for Quake Wars and it's just completely blown me away. /dribble

Doom 3 is best for indoor enviroments where it is very dark, Half life 2 does everything very good espically the water. BF2 is good for rendering massive enviroments.
