My price range is not to high, some graphics cards do cost up to $1000 but some are cheaper, I am in Australia so the prices are slighly different as well. And the game could easily be converted to SM2.0 if a tiny bit of work is put into it. Look at Crysis, that has brilliant graphics and its supports SM2.0! If you voted no, I think you are being selfish to other gamers that might want it on Shader Model 2.0. If you have a Shader Model 3.0 card, you have a shader model 3.0 card, but you still don't have to vote no. I think some people misunderstood my question. I didn't say do you have a SM3.0 card, but would you like it if there was a SM2.0 patch? Support your fellow gamers. CoD511 P.S. sorry for the long reply
Not trying to be an a$$ here, but it would seem that a game this advanced would run horrible on just about any sm2.0 model card anyways, regardless of how low your game settings are. Gluttons for punishment? :p
I feel your pain though. When I was using a Radeon 9200 (sm2.0), I was forced to upgrade to play certain games (I forget which). It sucks when a game that is this good is beyond the capabilities of your pc. Every critic seems to agree it's an incredible game. I'll buy it soon enough to be sure.
Good luck!
A 6800 GT should be about AU$100, probably you could get a lower model for about the AU$70 range first hand.
I don't really see the point in a patch, either way you will need to upgrade sooner or later. Such is the nature of computer games.
Not only that but people I have talked to said even after modifiying the game to run SM2.0 it doesnt look near as good.

Still better than nothing
It's more of a performance thing. My GeForce 6800 GT does run SM3.0 but every program that it runs in that mode it runs poorly (Call of Juarez being a good example). Many people who have GeForce 6 series might benifit from SM2.0 support. Although trying to re-optimize the game for SM2.0 may be too much of a hassle for the Devs to bother with.
They should release a patch. Gamers who went with ATI 2-3 years ago spent good money on the there X800's so they deserve to play.
try the Nvidia Geforce 8800, its the best DX10 card out there, if thats to pricy, the 8500 which i got is around $100 or less (i got it at its release)
for DX9, the above cards work fine too, if you dont have vista that is.
If you are desperate to get the game running in SM 2.0 try this mod: Making Bioshock Work with SM2.0 Cards! (Work in progress) - 2K Forums
