"We chose to partner with Activision on our next IP because of their global reach, multi-platform experience and marketing expertise."

Interesting combination. Bungie, who has a great deal of community interaction, and Activision, who tend to distance themselves from their community.

Nothing bad is going to happen. It's just a publishing agreement, not a take over or anything. Bungie retains their IP rights, and their independence; while Activision just has publish rights and no more.

Bungie had to partner with the worst company in the video gaming industry; someone more greedy than M$.

Bungie obviously doesn't read the news, and thus they're going to have the worst 9 months in their entire life now as a result.

I think they said that about Infinity Ward, and you see what happened.

Killer Kyle;5307406Bungie had to partner with the worst company in the video gaming industry; someone more greedy than M$.
Or Sony/Ubisoft. They would just have pushed for exclusivity and DRM.
I think they said that about Infinity Ward, and you see what happened.

I don't think Bungie would allow themselves to be bought out again. Not after the incident with Microsoft. They must have been promised quite a deal for them to jump on. A share in the Call of Duty license, perhaps?

Infinity ward was taken over by Activision, and as such all their IPs belong to Activision. There are key differences between IW-Activision's relationship, and Bungie-Activision's.

I don't trust Activision to keep it that way.

Whatever deal they were given is likely full of lies.

Has anyone else noticed that ever since Frank O' Connor left Bungie, that the company seems intent on "going belly up"?

Could be worse though. Bungie could have entered into a publishing deal with EA, and that would be REALLY scary.

I didn't know he left.
Could be worse though. Bungie could have entered into a publishing deal with EA, and that would be REALLY scary.

As I mentioned earlier, the deal must've been pretty significant for them. I don't imagine them entering into a partnership where Activision is deciding everything about the project, and Bungie is the underdog.
