What's the huge hype with Civ 4 , All revviews about it are ridicoulsy high, so i wnt out and bought. It sucked there was nothing more than a turn-based RTS! If there are any features( besides mods) that would make my Civ 4 exerince more fun, PLZ tell me them.

Well, that's what Civ 4 is: Real-Time-Strategy. Part of the reason it is so well liked is it's replay ability. With Civ 4, you have a chance to be a part of history, or make events of your own. From military conquest and world domination, to diplomatic resolve, this game provides an inversive environment. We have plenty of mods on the FileFront site. I hope you find some that enhance your gameplay experience.

Turn-based RTS?! Or maybe a third-person FPS? ;)

Seriously though, a lot of people still like their good old turn-based strategy-games. If you look around you will find that turn-based strategy has some of the best strategy-games you can find. If you don't like strategy, don't buy it. And when in doubt, download a demo.

It's not like i don't like RTS's. It's just that CIV 4 was way slower than i experted. I thought itwas going to be more like a Starcraft or Warcraft paced game.

so the real problem is that you didn't do you're homework. As Mr. FancyPants said, download the demo. And for the record Civ 4 is a TBS or turn-based strategy.

Well I'm sorry that you didn't like it, but maybe you should just give it a chance. Turn based strategy games are usually harder or need more time to get used to, but once you know how to play them they are much more addictive :)

I'll trysome of the mods, I do admit biulding a Civ with 20/21st century Tech, and squring off with someone with 17/18th Tech is pretty cool. THX BTW

You just have no idea. When Civ 2 came out, I never left the house except to go to school and for football. The Civ franchise games have a habit of enveloping the player, much like the EverCrack... oops, I mean EverQuest games.

Very true. I remember playing Civ I for ages. A close relative to Civ, Colonization, is also one of my favourite games. I think I played it more than any other PC game :) Oh, and Alpha Centauri was also pretty good, the whole landscape looked a bit strange, but I liked the combination of Civ with some kind of story.
