Both of these engines were on display at this years E3, and there are videos all over the net showing what they can do

Which engine do you think looks better???

I really dont want to break this down into technical stuff, just keep it simple

Example:

CryEngine2 (mp4 format) You may need a player like VLC to play this

Unreal Engine 3 (mov format)

Personally, CryEngine2 kicks Unreal Engine 3's ass........then kicks it again

Considering Unreal 3 will be coupled with Novedex, I'd go for that, unless Crysis will use an even more advanced physics engine, but i've heard its physics are second rate, comparetively. I still think Unreal 3 looks better, but that's just me.

we havent really seen that much on the CryEngine 2 physics.........we should in time, but the trees, and bushes are very realistic, and move when you walk in them, that takes a lot of physics power

Without getting into all the technical stuff and sounding like a nerd :/ I think both of these engines will be a great! CryEngine FTW!

Difficult to say from those videos, Crysis seemed a bit blurry to me whenever you get close to vegetation but I like the destructable environment.

Yeah, the video's were a bit blurry, you couldn't really see too much detail with the Unreal one. Still I'm going for Unreal Engine 3... because it looks so cool. But Crysis's destructable environment is kick-ass as well.

Its a known fact that UT 2007 will support the Ageia Physics Processing Unit.

As for Crysis I think the new Physics will be great but Im worried about what kind of CPU power will be needed to process all those physics effects without a hardware PPU.

Thats the reason deformable terrain was dropped from BF2, It requires a considerable amount of processing power.

Crytek supports deformable terrain.

I havent really seen any UT07 videos, but Crysis's physics are just plain amazing. Remember its not just trees, they said anythong that looks descructable is.
