I've only been playing JO for about 3 days now, but I love every minute of connected gameplay (yes, even when I'm getting pwned). Unfortunately I've had a TON of disconnects... I'll get into a game, play for a few minutes, and then get dropped. For awhile I thought I was getting unjustly kicked, but I dismissed that possibility as I was disconnecting to frequently. Are random disconnects a common issue in JO? I've been playing only on servers with 60 or less players and only only join when the ping is below 70 (usually it's more like 15-20 players and 40 ping), no other online game that I play(ed) as had this problem... BF:1942, Soldner (no joke, it never did for me), Wolfenstein, MOH, Sven Co-op, Natural Selection, CS: Source, Raven Shield, etc... Is it just a bug in the current version of JO?
Does anyone know what's going on
Thanks in advance :)
I have a similar problem. Any server i connect to, it disconnects after about 2 minutes. This started today, i left my computer connected to a server and it was auto disconnected when i came back, so i reconnected to other servers, and it kept disconnecting on each server after two minutes, odd and annoying stuff.
But do you ever get a solid connection? Because sometimes I am able to play as much as an hour or two and only loose the connection when I decide to disconnect.
Meybe it's that time of the month for my internet connection :D
You probably have some sort of program checking for updates, I.E. a virus updater. Make sure it doesn't auto-install updates. This happened to me. But its cool now, except for the fact that no other comp in my LAN can get on the internet while I play JO.
Actually that could be PB causing you this problem.
PB was updated a while or so ago and shortly thereafter a lot of people were just thrown off their connection after roughly 4-5 Min.
All you have to do to fix this is to run PB from the PB folder on your original JOTR disk, uninstall the prog, then repeat the process to install it again - that way it reverts to the old version and you can play just as normal.
You might have to repeat this procedure every time you start JOTR, but most of the time the problem is cured after the first re-boot...
