hey everybody but especially the Fallout-gamers out there! i was wondering why Fallout still doesn't have it's own forum section on filefront. i know that writing an e-mail or posting a post to get the attention of an admin and just write non-stop "we want Fallout-forum" doesn't realy work but as the admins said: "when we see that Fallout gets so much attention and blah blah... (can't realy remember the rest)" i thought that i would be just a matter of time until Fallout would get it's own forum section but Nooo... so i decided that maybe a poll where the people can decide for themself if they want it or not. the reasons to make a Fallout section are clear so i don't bother to write them all down here because that has already been done and it simply pisses of the admins...

The poll is a bit biased don't you think? :P I'd personally say no. While there's a lot of custom content, none of it is really getting mentioned here. and the old ones are better :P

Well, with Fallout 3 and its past and future DLC packs being quite popular at the moment, and the future Fallout New Vegas on the horizon, I imagine that such a forum might get used. Now that GOG.com has re-released the original Fallouts, and people new to the series have started looking into them, making a general Fallout forum might be handy. But there are two problems I think. Firstly, while there have been a few Fallout discussions here and there, have there really been enough to warrant an entire forum to the subject? Secondly - there is no FilesNetwork site associated with it, and this is ordinarily a prerequisite to gaining a dedicated section on GamingForums. Oh, and one last point: I might be wrong, as my memory sucks, but I don't believe any such poll has ever been successful. If you need to create a poll, chances are the game in question doesn't need a site here. It's probably a bit late in the day to try and establish a Fallout community here. By now, everybody interested in talking about it, or modding for it, have already found their haunts elsewhere on the World Wide Web.

I really want to play Fallout 2.

i did not mean a forum only for Fallout 3, i meant it for the whole Fallout-universe, so i wanted the "old ones" to be also included. not just an fallout 3 exclusive forum.

The Fallout community is already spread thin as it is. I think a forum for it would do more harm than good.

might be true, but if that's a reason why does the Total War series got their own forum? don't get me wrong, Total War are great games, i own a few of them myself but their forum was already born dead... just look at it! Rome: Total War forum: everything deleted because no one posted something since march! Empire: Total War forum: No posts at all! why does this great game gets it's own forum although no one cares and the Fallout-series don't!? but maybe the fallout community would get more attention with an own forum? i could put links on Vault.Wikia or similar... and stuff... just an idea...
Nature's best screw up.

They probably discussed this already in the Staff forum. As it was not made when the game came out, I doub they'll be making one.

It's more like the NWN/NWN2 community.
There's better known forums and modding forums for those games than there were here, because they are exclusively for those games and were regularly frequented by the companies who developed them.
Virtually the same has happened with Fallout3. I know of one site that is choc full of mods of all sorts for that game, and isn't filefront. On that site, it took almost a week for the "reopening" of filefront to be brought up as news.
There are other factors obviously, but a large community that focusses entirely around one thing, where all are partaking in that thing, will be more active than a collection of smaller communities (of various sizes). To see what I mean, look at all the game related areas of filefront forums that have little to no activity, but have other forums dedicated to those games.

The Fallout community has plenty of great, and long standing forums. Most notably, "no mutants allowed". It's the largest, and one of the oldest - it would be difficult to even try and steal part of their community, there is just no reason anybody outside of the current regulars would ever go in there when much greater things are available.
