hah...

If it is true that high-pingers dont cause lag, then why does everyone lag when a person joins with a high ping?

I've had several experiences when there is no lag on a server, and then someone joins with ping 700+. The next round is unplayable because nobody can move effectivly.

Just out of curiosity, could it be that the 56kers/high pingers have to download something from the server/PB and that slows everyone down? It would seem reasonable, because eventually (like 3-4 rounds later) the lag subsides a bit.

Taken from a thread on the official forums:

TCP and UDP. TCP requires 2 hand shakes. Server connects to Client. Client confirms conntion to sever, Server transmits. If client doesn't respond, the entire server stops until that client responds or timeouts,

UDP, the server doesn't even care if you pull your DSL phone line out of the wall. It keeps sending, and sending, and sending, etc. Ever wonder why you warp?? Thats UDP. Your computer just discards a few updates to get back in sync, so you teleport.

If soneone is hacking the server or flooding it to lag it out, then its just a bottle neck issue and not that anyone's single ping is the problem. If the server's connection is not broad then someone will connect and end up causing a bottle neck and everyone lags. Thats not caused by ping but a server with too many player slots and not enough band width to support it.

Also note: 1)The ping displayed in the scoreboard is not accurate 2)The ping you see is not what other players see 3)If your ping is high, other player's pings will also seem high.

{_TW_}Headshot_LtYa, this is the deal with me to, I have about a 400 ping on a normal day, a little lower on good days, and a lot higher on bad days. BUT, on a good day I can usually own unless of course i have a crappy gun or what not. KICKING HIGH PINGERS IS RIDICOULOUS, I think some people kick them only because they get :0wned: by the high pingers. LOL, then they say that oh he has a high ping, cant have him in here. But yes, i agree it is the servers fault for the high ping. Thats why you see many people with high pings on some servers because the servers SUCK. So my last thought is dont kick the high pingers.

Well, People with a horrible lag is harder to kill because in one moment their are on your left and in just a second they are on your right  . You can't blame the server, if i download some shit and then join a server, does that mean i can blame it ?? and sometimes it is the server but that is when you join a server that is shitty by nature or is really fair away:D . Sometimes cheater's can have a incredibly low or high ping, and that may scare the people :naughty:

Lets face it, there is a number of players that do these votes just because they think it is fun. I know myself that high ping has no relationship to lag. This is the server, the server's connection, or you connection. And sad to say AA is one game that uses and ABUSES the vote kick too damn much. I have noticed that more and more games like COD, the admins are disabling voting because it just gets abused. I have even seen players on AA want to kick other players with the excuse of high ping, but the truth was they just wanted to retaliate for getting shot.

Personally, if someone has a high ping, that is their business and I leave them alone. Actually when I think about it, last night in SF hospital we all had high pings, but one player on our team had higher than normal. Nobody voted him off because one we were all struggling, and two he was a damn good player regardless.

OP I appriciate you posting this as this does need to be brought to attention. It really is ignorance of people to vote kick high ping claiming it is causing them lag
