I'm mentioning this not so much out of bragging rights, but curiosity, because in the end I found one annoying thing to be the biggest difficulty in achieving it and was wondering if anyone else with GTA IV PC had this problem. All along I thought it would be lag due to my system spec that would be the biggest obstacle, I was wrong.

Spoiler: Show

When I jump onto the chopper from the boat, if I'm not in cockpit view prior to it, the camera angle is always from the side rather behind the chopper once I start flying the chopper. Does anyone else have this problem? I've watched a fan made video that showed the camera right behind the chopper, it certainly wasn't the case for me.

This means that I not only can't see Dimitri's chopper, it's hard as hell to see the skyscrapers you have to avoid in chasing him. I ended up switching to cockpit view in the boat just before jumping to the chopper and finding a mouse sensitivity setting that allowed me to control it half way well that way. It was easier, but still the lack of peripheral made any bad turns amplified in effect.

Thank God you don't have to stick right on Dimitri, the game is actually unrealistically lenient in that respect and Jacob somehow miraculously shoots his chopper into flames even if you're swerving wildly and he's barely in sight. You basically just have to follow their path without major catastrophe like crashing into a bridge or building.

One other thing I thought I'd ask. I was busy doing missions and whatnot while playing story mode so passed up all the Random Character missions. It's the last thing I want to do to end the game but I don't see some characters appear as I drive to their spots. I know they do appear after the story is complete because I've done one that way last play through.

I have read however that these characters are triggered by certain events in the game, like unlocking new islands and beating certain missions. Does anyone know if all Random Characters in the game are playable missions after story mode ends, or do many if not most of them have to be played during story mode?

One of the things that bugs me about this game is the constant calls you get on the cell phone. I wish there was a way to turn it off sometimes. It makes for hectic driving and puts me in a mood to ignore things like the Random Character missions.

Well, as to your question about characters, I don't recall exactly what they unlock. From my knowledge I don't know if they do any of that. When I did my random encounter missions, the order mattered (not in relation to the main story though). What I mean is that some of the characters might have multiple random quests, and as such you'll have to do those in order. One that comes to mind is the crack head you meet near Roman's taxi place.

It seems that they aren't at those spots all the time though. Sometimes they'll be there, and other days they won't.

As for the cell-phone, many people have griped about that. The only thing I can think of is the sleep-mode on the phone.

Well I have tried going to each RC location at least 3 times, at day and night. I so far have been able to do about half of them even after story mode has ended, so I know it's definitely possible. Only two of them however have been reoccurring characters, the guy you spoke of and the model with the $500 shoes. In fact now that I recall, the reason I'm probably not finding anyone in 2 of the spots in the first neighborhood is I forgot I already did the two involving the guy you referred to during the game, so I really only have 8 or 9 undone. There is however a RC mission with the mob daughter and her family, so that one has to be done after the mission where you kidnap her.

The main thing I wanted to know was about the camera angle whilst flying the chopper during the hard ending chasing Dimitri though. I had a similar experience with Vice City on the mission where you fly a small remote control heli into a construction site to blow the place up. No matter what the thing wanted to fly sideways. That caused me to give up playing VC less then halfway into the game. Of course this time that is not quite the problem, but it's not much better trying to fly forward with a sideways view.

I'm not sure but I think the problem may be that I need to align the mouse look before actually flying the chopper. The reason I have not tried that yet is I felt there was no time to do that. If I so much as take one hand off the flight controls it allows Dimitri to escape, esp considering the lag I get, which affects my chopper more than the AI's. As I said though, I did not have to do anything in the other chopper missions to account for poor camera angles, it pretty much aligned itself behind the chopper. In fact I'm not sure there even is any mouse look with the choppers like with the cars.

I just couldn't think a way replying to that with out saying "don't know".

I've been around on a GTA forum, and there are threads like this (so you aren't the only one with this problem). The second one has an "answer", but you may've tried them already.
